Daniels looked ROUGH throwing the ball throughout the first 3 quarters. He missed open guys all night long, also underthrew guys a lot. Also made a couple bad decisions trying to run on thrid down with nowhere to go. Gonna need to hope he plays a lot better this year. If he doesn't, we're in for a rough watch and a slow offense again.

Think we are in a better spot offensively this time around.

Kind of like how he looked against Florida St. this year. I know there will be some games that he looks great, but he’s got a Jekyll/Hyde thing going big-time.

Daniels is going to shine against Miss State and the Daniels haters will go silent, until Monday when they say we will be in for a game against Arkansas because of Daniels poor play.

LSU wins by 2 touchdowns.. MsSt isn't a good team..

On paper there's no excuse for LSU to play this game competitively with Miss State. LSU should blow them out. Miss State has looked fricking awful on offense and they've done it against teams with like 200lb lineman. Yes, even Arizona had small lineman. Both sides of the ball really. LSU is significantly more talented.

However, the reasonable side of me knows that it's a 11 am game and on the road and this likely means LSU is their own worst enemy keeping Miss State lingering around.

tl;dr on paper LSU should blow Miss State out but very unlikely they will. Man to man there's no excuse to keep this one close for LSU. If our defense struggles in this game you need to be very worried.

I'm not trying to be combative, but why, outside of sheer optimism, do you believe this?

Last season the issue was either Daniels was hesitant to throw the ball (maybe just not seeing open receivers) and/or the play calling/passing approach did not fit Daniels's strengths.

Most, myself included, felt that after a full year at LSU both Daniels and Denbrock would adapt to one another, and the passing game would reflect that. Then the FSU game happened and the same hesitant Daniels showed up along with the same predictable passing approach. It appeared nothing had really changed from the year before. That being the case, I'm having a hard time believing each party involved will now, suddenly, become significantly better.

That was the most disappointing thing about the FSU game. Not so much that LSU lost. FSU looks to be a really good team. But that the same issues present in 2022 immediately showed up again in 2023. I really, really want to believe the QB and passing game will significantly improve. But the FSU game was kind of the old "fool me twice" situation.

That doesn't mean I think LSU will lose. It's just that I'm skeptical JD plays "a lot" better this year (even though I absolutely hope he does)

And we still put up 31 pts… we’re a lot better offensively this year

Our OL is better, Nabers & BTj seem to have taken a next step, TEs are improved, RB room has more depth…. Maybe JD is still the same QB as last year, but we are a much improved offense personell wise than last year.

Our defense not so much yet

Game was 16-10 until the muffed punt recovered at the MSST 9 yard line at the end of the third. LSU fans know good and well what a back breaker a turnover like that can be. MSST was playing very good game up to that point.

You're assuming everything stays the same after two games. I put it in another topic, but Barbay's offense have typically gone around 45/55 pass/run.

And small linemen? UAz going two-deep: NT 325 and 330; DT are 315 and 305; DE 270 and 285. Your boys are about the same size, so just what is small to you?

I’d argue the back breaker was LSU’s 85 yd TD drive in the 4th to go up from 17-16 to 24-16.

Score wise, yes, MSST was still in the game even after going down 17-16 after the muffed punt, but the entire momentum shifted to LSU. You could feel in the stadium even sitting at home. MSST could never regain their composure.

You are smoking some serious shite if you think Arizona's line is comparable to LSU just in size. Nevermind talent. Their Oline looks tiny on film and your front seven hasn't looked good.

Put the crack pipe down. Man to man Miss State is vastly outmatched talent wise with LSU. Whether it shows on the field who knows.

I'm less concerned about JD5 and the offense... WAY more concerned about our defense. Will Rogers is a decent college QB and our D has been dreadful through 2 games. We are literally dead last in the SEC in defense. And they need to turn it up on the road in the SEC against a decent QB. Would love to see the narrative change Saturday.
