I blame Nussmeier more than the D.

Kelly claims he was trying to do to much because his running game was terrible.

The problem is that we were up 17 - 7 when Nussmeier made that stupid "free throw" pass to a 5'8" receiver. Why was he "trying to do to much" when we had the lead and the defense was playing very good. I can see if we were behind 17 - 7 to try to force something, but not when you are winning by 10.

Punt the ball in that situation and force Texas A @ M to march more than 8 yards, 7 yards, 30 yards to score 21 pts. Sure, maybe Reed would have still won the game for A @ M, but it would have been a one possession game at the end if Nussmeier would not have throw those 3 INT's and they would have just punted.

Sorry, but I'm still shocked that a QB with a NFL dad still makes these kinds of decisions.

Perhaps that's on coaches for not practicing these situations more
If it’s true that they didn’t prepare for Reed at all, trying to adjust to something that the players are not familiar with is on coaching. But truthfully the blame is on both.
No.

No. The blame is NOT on both.

The players failed to execute. Look at Burns on this play:

Burns had ONE job. Tackle the fricking QB.

He stands there and watches Reed run into the endzone.

The coach put him in position to make the play. Burns failed to execute.

LSU's safeties are awful. They are slow to diagnose plays and don't like contact.

Really miss Perkins in a spot like that.

He would have made little difference. A&M did essentially what South Carolina did and Perkins was a non factor (3 total tackles)

This. This. This.

This play is completely embarrassing for our safeties. Burns, Ryan, and Gilbert on display. here

Gilbert is slow to diagnose the play, takes a bad angle, and arrives too late to matter.

Ryan and Burns run INTO blocks.

Looks like Burns was trying to stop him from going wide. Maybe he was thinking someone else had that gap. Maybe the DE had that gap but crashed in on the RB.

But yeah, Burns, Ryan, and Gilbert are terrible tacklers.

They clearly were not prepared for Reed even though he had started several games.

Clearly unprepared for a running QB like we faced the two games prior? That's what happens when you keep turning the ball over giving the other team an avg field position of midfield and 4 of the last 5 possessions inside the LSU 40.

Short field with a QB with elite speed running on a D that couldn't get a break the 2nd half. What could go wrong? Tip your hat to them and move on to Bama.

You should be more aggravated with the offense and the TOs and the inability to consistently move the football after the 2nd qtr.

Hopefully they can figure something out before Bama, Milroe is a great athlete however he does seem to struggle at times making the correct read on read option plays.

Reed has a much quicker first step than Milroe and has better change of direction. But once Milroe gets going he is a load.

Where the hell is Burns running to? It's like he was chasing air.

I won't re-watch but in my memory #35 (not bashing because idk his assignment) kept crashing down on the RB instead the QB.

Spears needs to play in place of Burns or Gilbert.

That was Sai'vion Jones' job. The LB and/or the safeties need to clean up the QB and they failed.

LSU got exposed for the lack of HORSES and DOGS on D. Oh there is a couple but they got tired and with no bench to help out it was over. I’m sorry but TAMU had more talent on both sides of the ball and wore the Tigahs out. Coaches just can’t make players talented when they aren’t.

If you want to get on Kelly’s arse, get on it for not bringing in talented guys. He totally missed on a BUNCH of transfers and did not recruit the studs from HS to help. This is his third recruiting year. He should have some studs that are sophs but he missed on a bunch of them. Sure, he was handcuffed on the his first one but the next two classes were average at best. HE hired the coaches that were responsible for bringing in studs and they failed in a lot of areas. HE must take the blame for his lousy staff.

Because of his BAD hires from the git go the talent on this team is still wanting. The D will be better next year BUT he’s losing a ton on O next year, the best ones are leaving and there will be a drop off in production.
So the D will be a little better, hopefully and a drop off in O and if he doesn’t hit a few HRs with a ST coach and kickers we are looking at another disappointing season next year. LSU didn’t hire someone to hopefully have the team competing in year SIX.

I never liked Kelly before we hired him. I think he’s a huge arsehole (he’s now our arsehole) but that won’t stop we from cheering the Tigahs on. I’m just not very optimistic our arsehole can pull it off. I sure as hell hope I’m badly wrong.

This is my issue with all the rantards saying the coaches didn't prepare them and how can you not prepare for him, a back up who was never inserted for a healthy Weigmen.

They faced a running qb the prior 2 games, are we to believe they forgot how to cover it already???

Yes, coaches are responsible to get the game plan and plays called, looked like that was done.

At some point the players have to execute, that is what happened Saturday night. The players didn't execute, now may that be because they aren't good enough or got outsmarted?

Punt the ball in that situation

Or throw to the other receiver who was right in front of him and wide open on the sideline for the first down.
