Regardless of whether Aranda is going or not...someone is wrong here.

The AP just published an article saying UNLV had made an offer to Aranda. Rittenberg is saying no offer was made.

Someone is completely wrong on this

The melt could have been for implications it had for the playoff games. I don't think you will see too many tears for Aranda leaving after how defense performed in the last 2 years

This is me. I think Aranda is a great defensive coordinator but I don't think he's irreplaceable. I was highly pissed and concerned about the timing of this whole thing. It could have very easily ruined a national championship run for LSU.

He needs HC interview practice if that is what he wants in my opinion Hope he sticks around through season but then if he wants HC hopefully he gets it I hope he gets bigger job though

I wouldn't be shocked if he does get a HC job in the next year or two. Maybe after the season.

Either way, O and Woodward need to have a running list of DC options that they keep updated so they can jump on the best candidate once that day comes.

Well at least we got to enjoy a partial melt by the Rant

Yep. We're a nostalgic bunch. This little melt was just a throwback to melts gone by. A little look back. Melts of yesteryear, to remind us where we've been and where we're going, before we continue our journey on this magical run of the greatest LSU football season in history.

Armand a has no buy out if he leaves for a HC or NFL, but there is a buy out if he leaves for a DC?.?

If that is true and he wants to leave for another DC spot, Can he accept a job as HC at a smaller school then leave them for a DC at a bigger school???

I don't know any facts but will throw out that I have "been in talks" with potential employers and they say "if you agree to these terms we will make you an offer (in writing)" which protects them from being officially turned down and keeps me from using them to go renegotiate my salary with my current boss. Good bet Aranda did have a verbal offer.

No school will ever say they didn't get their guy. A "formal offer" is never made until they have an agreement with a coach. No school in history has ever been turned down, if you believe what the schools tell you

True, but he has a pretty darn good slugging percentage from what I've seen. Probably the most accurate of anyone I've seen since being on TD.

Honestly, even the coaches get blindsided on kids they think are committed. It happens every cycle. Most appreciate the info and if you process it with other data you can usually get a relatively accurate picture of recruiting. It's when people take it as gospel that everyone gets butt hurt when info doesn't pan out.

I think Aranda will take the Kirby Smart route...stay put until the right opportunity comes up.

Reason to take a job like UNLV or Colorado State and the accompanying 50% salary haircut for Aranda is to win 7-9 games for a couple or few years like Norvell at Memphis and turn that into a $5m per P5 job.
