They need to change the rules so college players can go in the draft one year earlier. It sucks that he’s leaving but the fact is that he’s NFL ready and would have been a top 10 pick this year if allowed to declare. Guys are playing earlier now and there’s plenty of sophomores ready to make the jump.

Do the same thing with basketball. Go straight from high school if you want, but you stay two years if you enroll. It’s a good happy medium.

From SoFunnyItsNot LSU Fan when Micah Parsosn opted out

quote:

Luckily Ja'Marr Chase loves his college team and loves winning. So he would never do that. And he's projected to go before Parsons.

He really doesn’t have anything left to prove on the field.

Great. So any guy who's a projected top 5, 10 or first round pick after his sophomore season should just opt out?

Lmao at this board

He doesn’t owe me or any of you anything

You already know what it is. Many on this board tolerate these guys until they stop being of service to them. The second that ceases, then you hear what they really think of these athletes.

Then they want to turn around and call themselves great fans.

Yes, there are very very few people that this applies to.

But I just read on the rant that this is untrue. CBS is clearly misinformed and should spend more time reading the rant.
Stupid fricking CBS spreading false rumors on TD. Moderators, please ban CBS for life.

Did you just accidentally stumble upon player compensation and not even realize it

And CFB already operates in a system where they can “fire” the players at any time. It happens every year. Even better they can fire the player and tell them they can’t go to other places who are “hiring”

I know exactly what player compensation is but you don't understand treating a player as an employee vs giving them cash on the side and requiring them to go to class.

If I can fire and replace you at any point during the season with a free agent knowing that most good players are only going to be there for a couple of years it's going to get nasty.

There's a cultural problem at LSU, and it's likely being perpetrated by external sources (media, other programs

Maybe there's a reason Miles was so adamant about limiting who had access into the program ?? especially past players.

Yea i don't support this at all. He had every opportunity to decide on this weeks ago. He accepted the number 7, he supported the #wewanttoplay movement and has been one of the team leaders. He abandoned his team, thats all this is. I get he doesn't have anything to gain this year, but for fricks sake, once you commit to something so fricking heavily don't you dare back out of your obligations you made for 100 of your brothers. Dont be a fricking leader and then say nah because the money smells too good.

I agree with this 100%. I support his decision to opt out but he should not have gotten this deep and boisterous and then backtracked. That is a character issue to me... I don't care who you are, or what commitment you made, a real man keeps his fricking commitments. You word is your bond. His timing is horrible.

It’s more likely that the extra attention we’ve been getting from media and ncaa has our compliance team monitoring things very closely. I would suggest that he had impermissible contact with agents due to his high value and this is the repercussion from that contact.
That's possible. It would explain a lot about the strange timing of the whole thing.

Most in this thread have not bad mouthed him, some have but the majority are just upset with his timing.

Its his life and future, if he believes its best for him great, hope he has a long, successful career.

It is kind of harsh though to make the all in comments and have his dad doing the same on local media then out if the blue 4 weeks before the season decide, nah I'm joking fam.

I'm sure alot of his teammates feel similar, happy for his bright future but a little frustrated on basically being strung along and taking valuable reps from others.

Its not about whether they understand his decision or not. Its about making a decision that affects over a hundred people because they relied on you making that decision. Don't back out when other people are relying on your word.
