Really bad move by Shelvin to opt-out. Chase is a household name, but not Shelvin. He needs more pub to climb in the draft. My arms are open.

Would you tell Chase the same thing if he decided to opt back in?

Chase is a totally different situation, as he is a guaranteed top ten pick.

Hes not a guaranteed top ten pick by any means. The number 1 receiver drafted in 2020 went #12 and Chase isn't guaranteed to be the #1 receiver if Devonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle show out this year while Chase is sitting around playing video games.

I dont know, I don’t think it would be smart for him to come back if he wasn’t in shape. And I’m sure the staff would be open and honest with him about that. I guess we should just wait until someone snaps a pic of him on campus from a questionable angle before we freak out.

Wait, I thought you had the secret sauce? Wouldn't you know these answers instead of guessing?

Looks like he's living in your empty dome too. That's unfortunate.

I agree. WR’s are typically less valued than other positions namely OT, QB, DE, and CB.

Not saying Chase isn’t a good player but his position works against him and other WR’s could jump ahead of him on NFL team’s draft boards with a good season.

Sitting out is a calculated risk that could end up costing him money.

I agree. I don't believe Orgeron is going to put someone atop the depth chart that isn't ready to play.
If Shelvin wants to play, he could could be ready to play, if not start, in two weeks.

What about Chase?
As BayouCowboy said, enrollment is an issue for Chase's eligibility.

He might have not take an advance from an agent just yet... but he's taken "impermissible benefits" in the form of private training. At the very least, bare minimum if he hasn't gone that far yet: He's been contacted by agents, discussed private training (hence been promised and solicited impermissible benefits), and a good bit of his intentions have been public to a degree.

One way or the other, Chase crossed his Rubicon and is no longer eligible.

What Chase did (and against the competition he did it against) can't be topped in a shortened season. He basically destroyed everyone's best and was unstoppable in the national championship game. Those other guys are awesome too, but it would be almost impossible to top what he did last year. Now, he'll only go top 10 if someone needs a WR that badly or if certain teams take the "pick the most talented player available" approach, so you're right about that part.

If TS comes back, I suggest keeping the snarky comments at a minimum. Especially if he doesn’t miss a game.

I think if Shelvin opt'd back in sometime this week we'd see him for snaps against MSU.

Undoubtably he has some work to do with his weight, but 375 isn't that far off from where he started last year.

He did get a fair amount of camp with Bo's defense, so it isn't like everything would be new.

And there are packages where Bo would love to have him. Containment packages where the flanks are keeping the QB bottled up and you need push in the middle. Shelvin is a destroyer of double teams and that makes Bo cream.
