Have you ever sat in a single engine airplane?

most people that sit in one made the choice to do so.

It was a ignorant tradition, it was not good for Mike’s health and should not be done ever again. It is what is best for Mike. That roar is a defense mechanism of stress and fear. When tigers are happy, relaxed and not stressed they chuff, they do not roar. You ignorant dumbasses should learn something about tigers before you open your pie holes.

I remember hearing him roar for the first time on the other side of the stadium. Even from that far away it was terrifying. I loved it.
Having said that, it always felt a little f’ed up to basically rattle his cage just to make him roar.

Anybody that is older than 30 can remember when mike actually lived in the 8x8 cage on campus.
I don’t want to hear shite about it being bad for the tiger. He lives better than most tigers.

It was a cool tradition, but you could tell that the Tiger didn't really enjoy the cage on gameday. I was on field level for a few years and he was nervous as heck. Also, we have like 30k more people in the stadium that we used to so it's a lot more noise, lights, and all kinds of stuff for an animal to process than it used to be. I love Mike the Tiger, and I like the unique fear having him down there could put into an opposing team, but I think the new norm of having him across in his enclosure on gameday is better for him. I also like that all the fans can go get their pictures and see the Tiger on gameday rather than squinting to kind of see him pacing in the trailer at field level.

Wtf does an exotic mammal have to do with social justice?
I thought this was bad arse as a kid. When I see those videos now, I can't help but feel a little bad that we agitated the poor guy for our entertainment.

Terrible analogy, what does public sanitation and electricity have to do with a wild predators evolution? Even if the animal were stressed for a few seconds how is that some kindve danger to his health? The argument is so ridiculous but since TV and the internet told you it’s wrong you just agree with it.

Living in a several million dollar habitat, eating like a king, gets played with and taken care of physically every day.
A little roar for a football game is not too much to ask for. It’s his sole job in life as a Tiger. Roar...

These people think they have some kind of animal psychology degree lol. Here’s a little insight into a Tigers way of thinking, there’s not a creature smaller than it that it doesn’t want to kill for food and no creature larger that it can’t outrun or get away from. Predators at the top of the food chain don’t experience stress the way these people think they do.

Every game. The cheerleaders would rattle a cup against the bars of the cage and Mike would let it rip. Was awesome
Cool story, but false. They would hide the costumed Mike behind a group of cheerleaders and then he would reveal himself to the real Mike, who hated costumed Mike, so he'd roar at him.

Lol. Watch any documentary. Spend time around animals. Know anybody who knows anything about animals. You just sound so ignorant. Watch Siegfried and Roy documentary and notice how they spend their life getting these animals comfortable in front of crowds.

Thank you for that wonderful insight into the mind of a Tiger

My roommate at LSU (mid-80s) is a vet and was pre-vet back then. He had dealings with Mike when he was in vet school. Relates that Mike would get so worked up in cage in stadium that, despite being sedated, he would gash his face on cage, sometimes requiring stitches.
I loved Mike being in the stadium, but it was stressful on him and it was absolutely the correct decision to forever halt the practice. Really nothing SJW about the decision.
This is the correct perspective from someone who is educated to know, a veterinarian trained to recognize animal behavior, subtle or not.
Experienced cat or dog owners know when their pets are stressed to the point it's unhealthy, and responsible owners try to eliminate that stress. It's no different with Mike.
Enjoyed when Mike was in the stadium but it was clear even back then that he did not. The tiger in the video has his ears pinned back for a reason.
Things evolved for the good to leaving Mike in his enclosure on game day, and understanding that has nothing to do with who you voted for last Saturday, or what political outlook one may have.
