I loved Mike being in the stadium, but it was stressful on him and it was absolutely the correct decision to forever halt the practice. Really nothing SJW about the decision.

People are simultaneously seriously worried about the stress levels of a tiger and also claiming not to be “libtard”, “SJW”, etc.

Now I am not calling anybody any names, and I’m not saying that stressing out a Tiger is an unmitigated good, but you can’t deny that the “bleeding heart” point of view has been very effective in shaping your opinions.

Not long ago, most people, statistically including almost all of the people in this thread, would have thought that subjecting a Tiger to a bit of stress was a small price to pay for entertaining 100,000 people in a unique way.

Instead, now we have an absolutist, almost Puritan view of such things. Some would call that progress. I think it lacks balance and maturity.

It seems like a way could be worked out to do that safely from a distance

Yes, in his top notch habitat.

Sure. I just learned how to better take care of them as I matured. We can do the same things as fans.

It’s a really small structure compared to his natural habitat. When are we going to grow up and end this barbaric practice of confining these angelic Tigers?

Signed, all of the enlightened folks whose Neanderthal parents didn’t mind a Tiger being stressed out on their behalf

If there were a way for Mike to "chose" to go into the stadium, I'd be fine with it.

Not sure what that would even look like....a big clear tunnel that runs from the habitat across the street and into Tiger Stadium? Walking with handlers like other mascots? Constructing a temporary habitat on the field before the games?

I don't have an answer. I can't think of another school that brings an apex predator to games.

I'm just not ok with drugging him and putting him in a circus cart. But I'm ok with bribery/incentivising Mike into the stadium.
