Virginia has won a championship and gone to supers nine times. Do you consider them a “major program”? I would say they are very probably last on the list of major programs.
I would not and most folks in the baseball world would not consider coastal to be a major program.
Don’t get me wrong I don’t think they’re a Cinderella either. You don’t win that many games in a row and not have a damn good squad. I just don’t think they’re a major program.

Coastal punked us last time and Jay too. 26 wins in a row.
Remember the ongoing excuses when LSU losses to some horrid team mid-week several times a year? Means nothing right except you lost and shouldn't have based on talent alone.
Apparently, Coastal doesn't lose this year to bad teams and our 7 PAST championships mean nothing to them in today's season. Hard to blame them for being "confident".
Just smile and kick their teeth in tonight and tomorrow.

If you play into the narrative, the pressure is on the big, bad, powerhouse from BR. And you are the feel good story playing with house money.
Now you switch the pressure on to your own ball club to go prove they are one of the premier programs. “You say you’re one of the best, well let’s see it on the biggest stage” type thing.

When I was watching the postgame and the HC was rambling on about how to pronounce “Chanticleer” I was thinking he better be worried about Kade Anderson and not about what type of rooster he wants the media to call him.

You are confusing blue bloods (of which there are probably 6) Elite programs of which there are maybe 15 and then major programs.
A major program doesn’t want for anything, has all the resources and support it needs to be successful, recruits successfully nationally, and is fully capable of competing with and beating any program at any time.
Here’s a modern example of why coastal is a major program…Their roster NEVER gets gutted by the portal as a minor league team for p2 (SEC, ACC) programs

Their roster never gets gutted bc their players typically aren’t good enough to make a sec roster. The fact that most of their starters are 3 and 4 year guys is all the evidence you need come to the conclusion they are not a major progams. Especially now with NIL and the portal.

They are a major program imo. Not many teams can say they have won a natty. And they are playing for a second.
