Are you talking about Webre. If so, I don’t even know where to start

Don’t want this to be a bash Pulmonary thread, but I’m trying to wrap my head around his decision to cut Reid.
How was his evaluation of him and our prospects at 3rd base so far off?
I'm happy for Reid. But, if I'm being honest, I didn't see anything out of him the first 3 years to disagree with the decision.

No I completely understand why Reid was cut and I agree with it. Players should be cut and if I was the coach I would have made the same mistake Paul made. It was a mistake but it’s a very understandable one.
I just disagreed with that one part of your post

Correct. I think you assess the player and you commit to the player. Barring injury or other issue he is your player.
I realize that is not the world we live in.
If we are cutting players it should be obvious why it was Reid
Ok. I now understand why I didn't get what you were saying. It's because I'm not a pussy, and don't believe in the participation trophy BS way of thinking.
Reid has a place on ANY baseball team, because he can do it all. When push comes to shove though, you cut ties with the senior player who has reached his ceiling. CPM didn't do the wrong thing, but I'm sure he is thrilled to have Reid back, just like we all are.

PM saw what he had in Reid when he came and played as a freshman.
Three years later and three recruiting classes later we have not brought in a better third baseman than Reid despite numerous attempts.
It's not that Reid is all that great, it's the kids battling for his position don't produce in games as well as Reid produces.

Because Pulmonary is our coach...

Jake slaughter, Hal Hughes and Josh Smith are all better third basemen than Chris. All are better athletes than Chris. Chris just happens to have a niche that he does really really well. And that niche is seeing the ball. He rarely strikes out and he sees a lot of pitches. I love Chris Reid. Hell I was that kind of player. A terrible athlete but I understood the strike zone and I made contact.
But when it comes time to cut you go with the higher ceiling as opposed to the non-athlete who walks a lot.

Josh Smith plays short
Slaughter was asked to leave before Rrid.
Hughes might be a better fielder, but he's not as good of a hitter.
Reid doesn't stress out, he doesn't get overwhelmed by the moment.
And even PM admited his mistake. Ceiling or no ceiling, it's about production. You can keep waiting for kids to produce, but you can't deny a kid who produces.

I am not saying Bain was all world but he didn’t come out of no where. It wasn’t some fluke that he played well. It was implied that Bain just came out of no where which isn’t true. I never said he should have been drafted.

So I am a pussy
Only in your fricked up bizarro world would making and honoring s commitment be taken as a pussy move
In my world a man makes a decision and sticks with it. In yours he just says oops and does the convenient thing because he lacks courage, ability and fortitude.
You just parrot the participation trpophy bullshite line because you are too dumb and weak to have your own thoughts on a matter.
Then you hit me this wisdom

Reid can do it all? I suppose so if you exclude speed, power, average or production from your equation

I also admitted it was a mistake in this very thread. But it’s a real fricking easy mistake to make.
Paul has owned up to it and rectified it. Chris has forgiven it. I don’t see why y’all can’t let it go as well

Didn’t Reid start as a walk-on? I could be wrong but if I’m right then Paul made him no promises.
He did frick up by releasing him though but he was doing what he thought was best for his team. That’s Paul’s commitment/responsibility. No player is above his team

You have 90 upvotes as of now.
This shows how ignorant the rant is about baseball and why I nearly never post on the rant.
So clueless.

Walk on or not is irrelevant. There is so littke s money to pass around it does not matter.
It has to do with decisions being made off of commitments.
A coach makes the assessment. If he is wrong I don’t like the ability to just ditch the kid.
In pro sports it cost managers and GMs jobs to miss on talent. They make contractual obligations. I think to a certain extent college coaches should make and honor obligations. Period
I understand this is not the case. People are too timid to stand by their people or commitments now. Integrity is not in, winning at all costs is
