They were holding our players the whole game. I think we're even.

Every game this year I have seen the same complaint that the other team is holding LSU but not called for it. Serious question: Is LSU's line not holding (and getting away with it) a reason why our o-line play has been subpar?

both calls were bs but both teams had the same opportunity to take advantage of the calls...LSU did with its KO return and UGA didn't with theirs to put themselves in great field position...

That 40 yard kick return also helped LSU. Also the illegal formation penalty.

BINGO!!!

Difference in the game at the end was the difference in the results of the K/O returns. We got one and the Dogs didn't.

Plus, our D did what the Ga D couldn't and that was to get the D stop at the end.

The smug little douchey look on Rece's face when he mentions where we ended up with the ball was priceless.

Holtz mentions again the Clausen is the best qb in the nation.

Also, this just in May is still blowing USC

Possibly. I play OL for my HS, and we're taught to hold. Of course, this is on the inside of the jersey, not outside, where holding is typically called, and fans would really notice it, so IDK.

I f'n hate ESPN.

Their argument was that 1) it helped LSU (I don't think anyone is arguing that. All penalties help the other team. Kind of like the team with the most points at the end of the game usually wins. )and that 2) the celebration penalty was stupid. No one is arguing that either. It was stupid on both, but they never even mentioned that LSU got the same exact penalty for even less celebration.

If you just tuned in to their crappy analysis, you'd think poor ole Georgia just got screwed out of their win.

I notice that fans generally point out all the holds against their own team, but never seem to point out any missed holding calls against their own team. I would doubt that LSU holds significantly less than other teams, but I am not that close an observer of the intricacies of o-line play.

What about the no call for safety.

There wasn't any doubt about that.. safety all the way.

Yeah, that's cause it's easy to. It's cliche that "refs can call holding on every play" but it's true. There is holding on every play. The refs only call it if it's obvious, though (i.e. if your arms are wrapped around them on the outside, or if they can clearly see it). But they won't call it if you "grab cloth" with your hands inside, or if it's not absolutely clear it's a hold. Fans will notice their team do one thing, and won't think it's an hold, because it's not one of those obvious holds, then the other team do the same thing, but think it's a hold.

As much as I would like for that to have been a safety, even a no call one, it wasn't. He was at least a hair outside the tackle box, and there was a WR right by the sideline where he threw it out. He was damn lucky on that play, but no safety.

How much time was left when we got the ball? 1:09? How much time was left when they got the ball? :47? They had the same penalty we did...why didn't they bust a big run? Why didn't they have a 40 yard return? They used 3 times as much time as we did and didn't do anything with it. Blame your players for not making plays not the referrees for fricking you. That game really shouldn't have been close anyway. Between picks in the endzone failed 4th downs and no call safeties (oops they forgot to mention that didn't they?) uga fans should be happy it wasn't 49-13.

As far as the no-call safety, he definitely intentionally grounded it. He never even looked where he was throwing it.

He got lucky that there happened to be a receiver within 40 yards of the ball, and that they were in Georgia, but it didn't matter at the end of the day. Good teams overcome bad calls.

I heard him and I got ticked. The call was bad, but then they said UGA's was much worse because LSU got the ball at the 37 yard line. They totally ignored that Trindon returned the ball 40 yards, and UGA had a legit illegal procedure on the kickoff. LSU had to kick from the same spot, but we stuffed them at their own 32 yd line or so.
