Caleb Williams and Tristan Leigh getting intimate and perhaps having LSU leading for large portion on their recruitment, then bailing showed once the national recruits got a peek behind the curtain and were unimpressed was a major flag.

How, exactly, do you define this? It seems like legitimate criticism of the HC who has the LSU football program in a tailspin. Do you see it differently?

yeah a few of them were killed in the riots after Floyd’s death. And some had their business burned down and destroyed. “Read the room” get the hell out of here. People need to quit bending the knee to bs.
The point went right over your fricking head. No one gives a shite about your Floyd take. People killed in riots literally means NOTHINGGGGG in the scheme of the argument, the players were upset about Floyd and not the damage or lives lost when the riots and protests began. They don't care about those things, like it or not. "Read the room" yes read the room even if you disagree with it.
"People need to quit bending the knee to bs." But in his position and relying on a mostly black team, you HAVE to bend the knee. Look at Saban. Get over yourself guy
Bottom line is people for whatever reason felt connected to that guy (criminal history, drug use, or not). As a head fricking coach you fake it that you care too even if you have zero interest.

2. Lack of response in the wake of George Floyd death
It wasn't his lack of activism..... It was the fact that the Team had marched without him and HE had no clue that they did that whenever he was asked during an interview

why perpetuate a lie
he should have explained that george floyd was a dopehead and a thug who caused his own death...
If he did that, good luck trying to recruit at a school like ours that would now be perceived as having a lack of empathy for blacks. As stupid as that is, that is the reality. Black kids wouldn't want to come here anymore. Just imagine the negative recruiting.
Yes, dude was a thug. This is one however that you have to show empathy. It is backwards but it is reality

He's losing football games. That's it. If he goes 9-1 last year and is undefeated this year you never bring this shite up.
Shut the frick up with this virtue signaling stupid bull shite. You and Ryan Clark can eat a dick. What was Ed suppose to do? Start sucking off some lifelong career criminal that refused to comply? Maybe he should have continued this bull shite politically driven racial divide that CNN and other pussys like you won't stop pushing.
Exactly!!! If we had squeeked out wins against UCLA and Aub we would be mildly bitching while bragging about the playoff possibilities. 2020. Would not even be in the conversation.

Why is everyone arguing the merits of the Floyd situation? That literally has nothing to do with this. If it's something important to the players on your team, it has to be important to you as the head coach. Unless you want your team to alienate you.
Whether the marches are right or wrong is an entirely different conversation. It doesn't matter when talking about the team's relationship with its coach.

If 'ifs and buts' were candy and nuts...this is a weird hypothetical. If he goes 9-1 last year and is undefeated this year then we're all partying like it's 2019. But the program has imploded and the OP made a few observations. You can agree or disagree but what we all know for fact is that lsu football is in the shitter.

What did Saban do? That's usually a good question to ask to see what a good coach would do in a given situation.

frick that. You get paid millions of dollars to win football games. When you start losing, people start shitting. If Ed's hates criticism, he can go work at burger king.

After all, Miles was just as bad and yet people still defend him.
It was Miles' time to go so no defending here but how many consecutive losing seasons did LSU have while he was coach?

I think the point there is that O's head has been up his A$$ instead of focused on football. That being said, even if it were not, he still has no clue what to do.

Becoming a Political Commentator on Fox News concerning anybody, let alone a President who's been less than kind about minorities [including poverty] when significantly more than half of the players on that team are of color and maybe coming from situations that would not be considered upper middle class or better.
All he had to say is "I'm a football coach; he treated me nicely the few times I met him or heard from him . . ."
That would have been the truth and would have shown he was well coached in talking to reporters who throw a curve ball at him where he should have stepped out of the batters box.

He is who he always has been.
What was his record in Oxford, again? When it was brought up all those years ago, the CheeriOs said, "look at his interim record at USC and look at his interim record at LSU."
Interim records do not build a program or sustain a program. "NO, no, he's changed...." He can't change, he is who he is, and it's all been exacerbated by 2019 and big money.

Should have displayed more empathy for a career criminal high on fentanyl who held a pregnant woman at gun point to her belly?

The thing is, if he was winning - or at the very least fielding a competent football team - most of these red flags don't even matter.
Add in the fact that the team seems to be in a death spiral, and these issue stick out like tomatoes in gumbo.

I knew going from Aranda to the remains of Bo was a disaster waiting to happen. Also going from Brady to Linehan? Ouch
