What Aranda was great at was making in game adjustments. What worked the first half for the opponent rarely worked the second half.I think Aranda was one of the top 5 defensive coordinators in college football. Obviously Ed O. and Baylor felt the same.

Ill go out on a limb and say looking back aranda will have been the better DC

Recruits complementing PeliniOne thing you know about Bo’s defense, they will lay the wood. Bo’s defense hits hard. Every player on that defense will know that they are expected to smoke the frick out of the ball carrier and receivers crossing the middle of the field will be in pucker mode the whole time. I’m talking LaRon Landry kind of punishment.
Get ready for the the penalties if this is the case. Landry would be penalized on half his hits now.

I know Aranda personally, he’s very introverted. He can speak well, he can give a great presentation, but back and forth interactions is something he struggles with. Nothing wrong with it, just a personality type.
that tracks, but he is a HC now, hes got to turn on the charm.
He may so ok if he has a solid assistant recruiter. Like I said, the players seem to really like him, he isn't terrible in living rooms, just isn't Mr. Personality.

Have you paid attention to the hitting in each game in LSU's path to the Championship.
Count the number of players injured on opposing teams.
Stevens and Delpit laid the wood to every opposing player in their path.
I became aware of it last night while watching the SEC Championship game for my daily Covid 19 exercise.

I think he's a better fit for the Coach O culture.

They'll complement him if he wants to keep his job in the future.

Their styles may be different but I will always have great respect for what Dave Aranda did for LSU. He is a class act and I wish him all the success he can get.

I like David Aranda, but the total defense did not get turned on until the A&M game and then after. LSU struggled mightily against, Texas, Vandy, Ole Miss and Alabama.

If Pelini can utilize the hybrid talent we have like M.Brooks and J.Stevens that will be a really good sign he adjusts to the talent to make it fit. If J.Stevens is getting beat in coverage because he’s trying to make him purely a two high safety and doesn’t find a way to get him closer to the line of scrimmage, then it might be frustrating. There were times with Pelini (like Danny McCray in man coverage against Jacob Tamme/Kentucky) where he just didn’t adjust and we constantly kept getting beat.
Aranda did great work moving T.White to slot, moving J.Stevens around, getting Delpit near the LoS, using tackling machines at LB rather than trying to beat the running game solely with front 4. Aranda was creative, maybe not inspiring always, but he could find mismatches. His cryptonite was clearly Dan Mullen so even great DCs have them. Hope Pelini kills it here.

Pelini was always a risk as a head coach because of his temperament.
Just gonna leave this here...

Pelini has calmed down a lot.
Every coach yells.

Aranda explaining his 3-4 to a recruit

What if he ends up at Alabama?
Saban would hire him in a second. He has said quite a few times how much respect he has for Aranda's coaching ability.
I'm not going to lie, I'd melt.
Hopefully Saban is gone in a couple years though.

Alabama with Tua and a healthy Texas were pretty elite offenses and both on the road. Other than 2 long passes against Stingley, we did just fine against Bama.
Ole Miss was a shite show. Vandy was gifted 14 points not against our defense, so they really scored 24 and benefited from 2 turnovers.

Aranda and Pelini are night and day personality wise
Aranda did a good job but miles ran off Steele who has done well himself

Just personality differences. Aranda did a fine job the back half of 2020.
Coach Aranda was a great in-game coach with his scheme, and more importantly his adjustments, but a lot of his great recruits were woo'd by others in the program. He made visits, but the LSU program sort of sells itself now.
Coach Bo Pellini will kill it in recruiting and we know that Coach Nick Saban gets lots of credit for game day coaching, but his forte' is recruiting studs and his relentless pursuit of the process. The games take care of themselves after that.
