These people don’t actually follow basketball so they have no idea about “talent” in relation to teams that bring in elite players. They don’t understand basketball recruiting rankings and they ignore facts like we overachieved every season he was here or that we never had a lottery pick and just 2 first rounders during his tenure. They don’t know what they’re talking about.

People also forget Will wasnt 40 years old for most if not all of his LSU tenure. He was going to improve as a coach. Too smart and bright not to.

quote:This goes to Dallas45's point from earlier regarding defense. Wade's struggle was defense the first 4 years, but it's not like he didn't notice or ignored it, he tried fixing it a couple of times, the latest ending up with a damn strong defense. The issue was the offense took a step back - injuries certainly didn't help.

As Alt26 points out often and is very correct, balance is the key for true contenders. I don't think for a second that Wade was unaware of that and wasn't going to embrace it and improve.

LSU basketball “fans” are fricking retards watching the game thru a football lens
Your bball IQ is extremely low if you say anything below an 8.
Wade had elite offensive teams and elite defensive teams. He didn’t have both at the same time yet, but he also took over the worst program in the SEC and then won it.
I’m starting to think LSU doesn’t deserve a good basketball program bc its fans are so fricking retarded.
It’s on sight for any of you bitch arse motherfrickers who say “muh street ball” when Wade’s coaching comes up. He had the best offensive efficiency in the entire NCAA one season. Is that street ball?
You lot of fricking retards, my god it’s so embarrassing

Yea as S said anyone under a 6 is a retard. I’d give him a 8 or 9 but I’m a huge wade fan.
The guy understands the game, he knew metrics that MM can’t dream of understanding.

Name a successful HC that doesn't depend on talent.
Saban?
BK? Why did he come to LSU?
Coach K?
John Wooden. The NBA was filled with UCLA players when Wooden was winning all those Championships.

He could reel in good players, but he never seemed to put a complete roster together. There were always holes. I would say he was a great recruiter. But maybe not the best roster manager. Dude understood the current game and also was great at scheduling. That shouldn’t be overlooked. I’d say 6-7

quote:They can't define streetball, just toss it around ad nauseam. Let alone, they fail to realize their basketball knowledge movie ends with basically the team telling coach to give the ball to Jimmy on a straight up run down the clock and jack up a shot game winner. No one else touched the ball.

Players left as soon as they were developed, to play in NBA.
If NIL had been in place, maybe he could have kept them and filled holes.
He didn't have financial boosters, like Duke or Kentucky, to keep players as upper class men.

If Will Wade was some kind of second coming of Mike K or Wooden, McNeese wouldn’t be on his job radar.
