Lastly, the assertion that the junior college film was of "low quality" is not really newsworthy. I have been following recruiting for quite some time, and I have yet to see any JUCO film that is worth a damn. It's not like these junior colleges have HD cameras set up from several vantage points on the field. It is what it is. To act as if the poor film quality is a revelation and to include in the headline is a stretch to say the least.

This is the truth. If the film from the JUCO schools are of the same quality of your average high school hype video on youtube, or better, ESPN should be villified by the rest of the national media as inaccurate and arbitrary in its conduct. I would love to see Kevin Whitlock of the KC Star run with this...that's a guy with top-notch media cred who has no problem calling out other journalists who do a shitty job.

As to the headline allegation that the video is old...that should be a black and white issue. Either the video paid for was of kids eligible to be recruited (i.e. not already enrolled in college and playing football), or it was not. This should also be checked out.

So you're saying LSU overpaid? Lyles has to get his cut too you know.

NO, I'm saying we payed for videos, not a make believe trip expense that happened BEFORE.

And AGAIN, nothing we did was against NCAA rulse as pertaining to recruiting services and trips.

make believe conclusion DO NOT warrant a violation. Sure, there may be things the NCAA doen't like and may change, but we followed THEIR rules.....sucks for them if they think Lyles is a bad person or businessman...that doesn't make LSU bad.

has LSU ever signed a player he has supplied film on?

if not, then this all means nothing. if yes, then hold on for a bumpy ride.

it's called operating in the gray area. you can go on your rant about morality if you want, but it's not against the rules. it's like selling a t-shirt with tickets stapled to it for free. the alterior motive might be there, but there is no legal wrong-doing.

we paid Lyles for his access to recruits and their families, not for some random collection of slightly useful and mostly useless video. if we were shelling out thousands for only videos we would have verified beforehand they were all legit and worth it

Yes we know this, but the only thing that can be proven at this point is that we paid for videos. Come on man we spent 100k on recruiting services for 2010-2011. We didnt just pay lyles company. We spent anpoth 300k on a guy named frank wilson just to recruit louisiana. We are not getting burned from the lyles thing. If we get burned it will be from ncaa digging something up. 6k is chump change.

People may not like it but schools have been doing this for years. The NCAA makes rules and schools find ways around them. It may be shady, but not illegal.

eh I dunno, physically being in Baton Rouge with recruits? (who didnt sign obviously, but still) something is sketchy, one way or another; hopefully it blows over didn't he run a ton of the 7 on 7 teams? it's completely normal for coaches/mentors to drive athletes for visits. it's a huge grey area in NCAA rules and that's the problem. every major university is guilty of it in some way or another.

Please. It was LSU vs UF. I guess lyles picked up marsh in cali then lache on his way back through texas. After that he drove to pick up reed then they all happily went the one of the biggest games of the year together and all decided not to sign with lsu.

Yea. LSU invites Seastrunk for an unofficial (i.e. on Lache's nickel) visit to LSU but he can't afford it so he asks Lyles to help. Lyles "sells" LSU some useless DVDs for $6K to fund the trip and pays Lache's way

Are you effing kidding me? The dude lived in Texas. You think it cost 6 grand to take a trip across state lines? Maybe if you chartered a jet and flew around the U.S.three times while snorting coke off strippers g-strings before landing...what useless speculation and assumptions.

This is the rant. Unfortunately, I doubt that they were kidding.

The epitome of baseless speculation.

I think you are missing the big picture entirely. The whole 'scouting service' industry involves promotion and access...and there is a fee.

The 'quality' of the video is so not what is goin on here.

yeah. If I have to go pick the kid up, drive him to camp, put him in a motel room for two nights, feed him, entertain him, clothe him, buy him some fresh cleats and some UndaArmor gear, and then drive him back home. Yes, I am gettin paid.

Yeah for lache. Not for the other two guys in the picture. Marsh is from Cali. Reed from LA. I dont see why they would need lyles, from texas, to bring them to lsu.
