The man has won a National title and we've appeared in two National title games in his tenure. He has the highest win percentage in LSU history. LSU has more players in the NFL than any team in the NCAA under his watch. This team can go winless in the SEC and he should and will retain his job. We can do better? Ask Michigan about how that played out with Lloyd Carr or Tennessee about Phil Fulmer.

Imo miles wins because of talent and when the talent or experience isn't there he loses

What about Gus malzahn!? He took an auburn team that won zero conference games a year before to nc appearance with a db playing qb.

Although I do think Les has won on talent and not coaching.

Very few coaches win on coaching alone. Bobby Knight at Indiana comes to mind. Archer may or may not have been a good coach, but the lack of recruiting quality players by both Arnsparger and Archer came back to bite them in the arse. I remember under Hallman, I believe, LSU did not have a single player drafted one year for the first time ever. Recruiting is a HUGE part of being a college football coach these days. And Miles is one of the best at it. As long as he keeps bringing in top 10 classes, he will win football games at LSU.

I would rather get strong classes year in and year out and field a competitive team, than go through the ups and downs of a team like Auburn - winless one season, losing in the championship game with a gimmicky offense the next.

But then I'm more focused on the games week to week and being competitive every time they take the field, rather than focusing on the end of December at the start of each new season. It's the journey more than the destination for me.

I'm looking forward to kicking Florida's arse in Gainesville this weekend, I couldn't care less about bowl games in January right now.

Reality is, we aren't getting a new Coach and any discussion of it unless Miles resigns is a waste of time.

I know that we are just having fun right now because the year hasn't played out yet and we all know about the Great Alleva-George Bass buyout in Les' contract. But here are just a few that I think IMO only that might be attainable.

Agree with the Chad Morris possibility. Seems very exciting and could get the offense rolling. I have no problem with the no head coaching before deal as Bill Arnsparger came in here with little Head Coaching experience other than his brief failure as a Head coach in the NFL, I think it was with the NY Giants.

Other Intriguing names and in no particular order: Jim Mora Jr. , Rich Rod, James Franklin though as Starkevious once said , PSU may be his dream job, Dan Mullen, Hugh Freeze is too much in love with the JOhnny Rebs, Mark Stoops has so far seem to have Ky in the right direction. Kirby Smart, Just to name a few, again JMO , I believe they are all attainable. Just for Kicks, Im afraid unless M2M becomes a reality, we are stuck like chuck and we also has to see how this season plays out.

So you just described pretty much every coach in the country that wins consistently and not the occasional upset here or there. K great.

i like your thinking, should LSU be in the market for a new HC. We don't need to bring in any other tired veteran coaches (the usual suspect big names that are trotted around here ad infinitude). A strong OC from a quality program like Clemson could be the next diamond in the rough find for LSU.

Auburn could have just as easily lost 3 or more games last season.

Fortune smiled on Auburn and they got to the big show a year earlier than they would have expected. Then the luck ran out. Let's let Malzahn win a National Title before we anoint him the new King of the SEC...

What? No? Just because a team is ranked higher than another doesn't mean they have more talent. A team like Missouri gets out recruited by the Georgia's, Uscs and floridas In the east but they still find a way to win because of good coaching.

This thread is so stupid. I think Swampy is a trolling Bama, Ole Miss, or other SEC fan. He is not an LSU fan.

Idk if you're taking up for Miles or not, but I found this ironic given how lucky he was in 2007. Not to mention plenty of other games/years.

I think if you look over the landscape of the BCS era a lot of teams made it to the big game with a healthy dose of luck.

Notre Dame anyone?
