Those were incredible games to watch. Wish we couldve came out on top, but you win some you lose some

2011 was a great game, but it was so tense every play. Bama could have won that one, we could have won a couple since though. I just don't think "fun" when I think of LSU-Bama games, even when they had good teams before Nick and even when we won.

Ace, this is pretty much the same when he was with the Dolphins.

It's time to get over the Saban thing, I'm kind of tired of our bitching.

No doubt. 2011 was without a doubt the most tense game I've ever watched. Next Saturday will probably match it, or surpass it.

I certainly wasn't meaning to whine about Saban. He's an interesting character who happens to coach our next opponent. Just found his reaction thought-provoking. I don't care who he made cry or whatever 10-15 year ago.

Its not so much what he says as it is his grumpy demeanor. He just looks miserable all the time. Its sad that a guy who has had that much success doesn't have more fun with it.

Wow, Saban looked old, angry and tired. So glad he's not at LSU.

It is interesting his reaction is completely scrubbed from the text, but they left it in the video. His body language betrayed something just short of rage about Steele. Now, part of it may be that he's feeling the pressure about LSU - normally LSU is ranked lower than Bama going into this game. I think the last time we were higher was in 2011.

It seems like that pressure was palpable back then, too - the previous 4 games in the series had been split 2-2, with a margin of only 26 total points in those contests. But both defenses in 2011 were rightly considered 2 of the best college defenses of all time - although that season always feels tainted by 1/9/2012 - that defense is my favorite in my lifetime, with only 1969 and 2003 really coming close (although I also have a soft spot for 2005 - holding Bama, Florida and Ole Miss to a combined 37 points).

But, 2011 LSU was the most dominant college defense in the modern era of college football.

Even in that game, the defensive was impressive to keep LSU theoretically alive as long as it did.

Ok, so the question was about Steele's familiarity with Bama, what about Coach O's familiarity with Kiffin's tendencies on offense? I know Nick wasn't asked that, just throwing it out there.

Then you missed it.
Saban seemed to want to downplay the LSU "rivalry". He also seemed to want to inject himself into LSU's success -- "we had great athletes when I was there." It was weird.

I took it that the repeated LSU questions irritated him, rather than anything particular to Steele. Afterall it's not like Steele made a lateral move like Chavis stupidly did. (Think Chavis regrets that? )

Spot on. It also seemed to me like he caught himself mid rant to give Steele a little acknowledgment as if he just realized the question being asked and didn't want to sound like a complete dick...

I've heardd this several times, but always thought it just had to be untrue. Is he really that much of a dick? Anyone know if that is the rule at Bama too?

He is an a-hole. He does not care about anything other than himself and his god damned process. Its not a secret. He fits in so well with that fan base. Its hilarious when they point to LSU and say we cry about schedules and refs and that is literally all I have heard from their jibs this season.

Everyone has a bye before they play us.
We have the toughest schedule.
Refs wont call shite on any opponent.

Yada yada yada. Oh they'll have some shite ready if they lose.

I've heard Hultberg tell the story about Terry throwing Nick a surprise birthday party and he was PISSED and griped the whole time about how stupid it was to do something like that on a game week.

I'm sure Nick doesn't like that either. I didn't think about this when they were hired. That the combination would especially annoy Saban.

Of course. This looked like the one year since 2010 maybe they had the tougher schedule, but if Florida beats Georgia and South Carolina starts playing well, I'm not sure they do.
