reaction to choice of returners

I'm a little disappointed, because miles appears to be playing it safe on punt returns. Tre is dependable to catch the ball and not make mistakes, but he is not the most explosive guy that we could put back there.
I'd rather not see LF return kick-offs because of potential injuries, but if he wants to who are we to argue? He is a great returner.
My only apprehension about LSU having a great season is miles playing it a little too safe - not letting our qb throw the ball over the middle, etc.

Just let it play out

If we are going to be able to count on our offense to put together good drives then I would much rather have someone catching punts who will certainly not fumble. It is a HUGE blow to have your defense get a stop, only to have to come right back on the field 50 yards closer to the end zone than they just were.

Logic doesn't add up here. Miles is playing it safe because white is returning punts, but the best offensive player on the team is returning kicks. Not sure that's playing it safe

The risk is not worth the reward, bottom line.

I think Donte Jackson or Guice would be electric on punt returns, hope we make a change there. White is definitely good but I still think we have more home runs threats with those 2.

I want to see Donte. The hype around him has me very curious

Any one who has seen Tre Whites punt returning, knows he's anything but a "safe" option

To expand on this:
White was #1 in the SEC last year in conference games in yards per return at 13.33 yards per return
LINK
Fournette was near the bottom of the SEC last year in conference games in yards per return at just 21.67 yards per return
LINK
Fournette looks a lot better in "All Games" because of the return against ND, but he really struggled in SEC games.

I didn't like Tre White letting balls roll last year when he should have caught them. Happened a handful of times. But I don't think he made any major mistakes. Fine with Miles putting him back there again.
As for LF returning kicks. I love seeing him back there. There are potential injuries on every play in football. Why not get LF 1-2 more touches a game?

The competition at punt returner was very close until #8 got hurt a couple weeks ago.

The main thing I would like to see on punt returns is having a second returner (positioned 10 yards or so in front of the main returner).
There have been too many instances where the opposing punter got off a very short punt - just to have it roll an additional 30 yards because our returner doesn't want to risk fielding it (either catching it in the air at breakneck speed OR trying to play it on an unpredictable bounce).
Just set up a second returner closer to the LOS where they can fair catch those short punts only 20-25 yards downfield. And if the punter does get off a good punt, this short returner can still provide value as a blocker.

Yeah wtf.
Kid was a good returner ONCE he had the ball secured, but holy shite he gave us several scares last year with drops and similar events.

He never lost one, but he has certainly made mistakes that were close to game changers for us.
We were lucky. I'm sure he has worked on it though and I'm fine with him back there. He was a good returner once he had the ball.

He does some stupid shite back there
Like after the ball hits the ground and the punt team is crowding, he was standing in the pile looking at the ball. Like WTF are you doing there man

LOL. I bet you walk around with your hat on backwards to, amirite? Kid gonna kid.
Of course you would want two tf returning punts....mane, them boyz can fly.....bust a move...."haven't seen them yet...but I KNOW they are our best option, and I know they will have excellent ball security". LMAO
As for Fournette.......good god kid....if you can't tell how much better he got at it during the year...then I can't help you. Also, you could say the same thing for almost all kick returners....."well if you took away their best returns"....lmao.

LF is a great runner, a great receiver, but man his KO returns last year were ugly pre-ND. Wasn't impressed by ST last year in general apart from some good returns from Tre White
