Been reading on a few different sites that Javonte and his mother met with reps of the NCAA over the weekend for several hours and that after all the research that Javonte may be ready to play on Friday. If that holds true , would not that clear Will Wade to coach and be cleared of any NCAA violations at least as it refers to the "smart arse offer"? Now he may have had other money offers for other players which to day we are unaware of but if Smart is cleared to play by the NCAA , does not that clear Wade. Thanks for any insightful answers by any of the legal experts, NCAA gurus or any others.

Not technically, I am pretty sure offering improper benefits is a violation.

Were they meeting with the NCAA or just LSU?

If smart isn’t guilty then Wade also is not guilty

He isn't officially suspended.

Dellenger, who published an article on behalf of Alleva today ( LINK) blaming the board chairman (Gloria Allred-level SJW James Williams) said on AFR he thinks Javonte will play. TIFWIW.

"Were they meeting with NCAA or LSU?" If I read correctly , they were meeting with reps of LSU but NCAA reps listened over the phone via teleconference.

Smart needs to accept improper benefits to give up his amateur status.

Wade needed to offer improper benefits to violate NCAA rules.

I get so tired of seeing this. Yes, offering improper benefits is a violation. Prove Wade did this! Everything that has come out doesn’t show proof of offering improper benefits. They may have more and it might contain some proof but to this point they have nothing more than “offer” but no context to say what “offer” is!

Calm down, I didn't say he did offer benefits, just pointed out that offering benefits alone is a violation.

The original premise was if Smart is clear shouldn't Wade be clear. My point is that Smart may be completely clear, but if Wade did offer he wouldn't be clear.

The NCAA does not meet immediatrly with the parties involved in such allegations. All that is known is from a news report. There is a process and university attorneys are involved. Schools do not just throw their players to the NCAA wolves. These investigations take months and even a year or longer to commence.

I have no problem with the suspension if he cannot clear things up.

I'll support the players, Wade is yesterdays news

I was under the impression (read in numerous places) that the FBI has instructed the NCAA to stay out of it until they’ve completed their investigation and lawsuits. They are basically doing the investigation then handing it over to the NCAA afterwards to pursue for violations etc.

Am I wrong on that?

This was my understanding as well. So now LSU admins are putting LSU in the middle of this when they were told not to.

Then you’re part of the problem. Will Wade has said and done everything that he can legally do.

He would be an absolute idiot to talk about a subpoena before court ESPECIALLY if he’s innocent.

What good could come from it? The administration won’t believe him as they’ve already shown and all it can do is set him and the rest of the administration up for a perjury trap.

They were foolish to even ask him to meet about it. He did them a favor by refusing and they’re too fricking dumb to see it.

ETA: LSU had two options. Either fire him or stand behind him. They somehow came up with the most fricked option for everyone involved
