Rashard Robinson isn't even the best corner on the team. He's getting tons of hype based on literally one performance against Mike Evans.

I remember Peterson biting a lot on hitch and go type plays his junior yr quite a bit. I don't know if he was playing zone and hatcher or whoever was at safety was supposed to pick up the wr. But it happened more in the later part of the year.

I love PP7. But this board makes him out to be a god. IMO, he was a very important piece of a stellar defense.

IF he was irreplaceable as most would suggest, we would have seen a dropoff in 2011, yet most could argue that was one of the top 10 defenses of all time.

I think it is a definite possibility. Robinson is listed as being a full two inches taller than Patrick Peterson, while Peterson can make this up in his athletic ability, the length is a constant, something that won't diminish over time. I would venture to say his wingspan and hands are bigger than Peterson's as well. Not sure on speed or strength at this point in their careers. His instincts and aggressiveness are just as good as Peterson's. He also doesn't have to focus on the return game, playing WR or in other packages, he can simply focus his entire game on playing cornerback. Can he be better than Peterson? Sure. Is he better than Peterson at this point in their respective careers? We will find out this season.

This board's memory problems are unbelievable.

PP7 took away half the field. Teams DID NOT throw his way. Alabama in 2010 is really the only time anyone attacked him but for some reason people act like that game was the norm.

It was only four years ago yet people don't remember a thing.

I feel like people didn't challenge Mo in his prime season less than they challenged PP. Granted, no one had receivers like AJ and Julio.

Just imagine if we could have had PP on that 11' defense.

Who knows--he is just a sophomore this season. One question about Robinson is his weight--can he bulk up a bit and still be as effective and keep his outstanding speed?

Funny bc I remember nobody ever really throwing at him and when they did he picked it off.

Where we watching the same guy? Dude had Heisman hype as a corner

I could be wrong but I don't think Julio ever scored on PP7.
AJ is one of those guys nobody's gonna lock down, so you can't judge off him really.

Mike Evans is soooo overrated. Give RR some time and he'll be great but he's not PP7.

IDK about that, PP7 set the bar pretty damn high. Leaving out PP7s return game and just comparing them as CBs, they were equally impressive. Pat Peterson when up against better WRs while at LSU IMO. Pat also made some ridiculous plays, my favorite was his over the shoulder tip interception against Mississippi State.

Some of you live in a fantasy world and believe shite like this to be true. Maybe that's why there's always so much disappointment around here. Too high of expectations.

Ask the former wr (evans) from aggieland...

Evans will prove to be a mediocre receiver in the pros. He was good, not great, in college. Julio Jones was electric in college. There is only one man on planet earth who could shut down Julio Jones, then and now, and his name is not Rashard.

To folks who say PP7 got beat now and then; of course he did; everyone does; RR got beat, too. At the end of the Ole Miss game last year RR gave up a critical, game winning completion. It happens to everyone.

In short, RR is great. He's not as good as PP7. Maybe he will be one day, but that's doubtful. LSU fans place more emphasis on the A&M game than they should. And, White is on the same level as RR, just different. In fact, I'd bet White has more ints this year, and I put the over/under at 1.5 for ints for TDs for White. I'll put the same over/under for RR at 0.5.

I think people forget just how good of a CB Peterson was since having guys like Mathieu, Claiborne, White, and Robinson.

Alabama with Jones had Heisman RB's. They relied heavily on their run game. To overlook Jones because he didn't put up Mike Evans numbers is laughable.

He did (4th qtr 2010) but the game was basically over at that point.
Brandon Taylor gave up the long TD to Julio in 2009.

People need to pump the breaks, not because Robinson is not a great player with huge upside, but because PP7 is one of the best players in LSU history (probably top 5 Cb in SEC history as well).

People forget that PP7's freshman year neither Julio or AJ scored on him watch the tape. AJ's only touchdown came on a fade against the opposite corner.

Which was on a historically bad LSU defense (Malveto). He was literally on an island that year. If he didnt make the play.....uh oh.
