Rashard Lawrence...You think he’s staying or bolting?

Even if he does stay another year, I’m not sure if that would help him sneak into 1 round worth.

quote:

LSU DT Rashard Lawrence

Current draft value: Round 2 - Round 3

How he wins: Short-area quickness and power. The 6-foot-3, 317 pound Lawrence moves like he's closer to 300 pounds. That allows him to win through gaps and deploy a quick swim move to disrupt the backfield. His burst is excellent, and once he has the leverage advantage, he capitalizes. While not a prospect with an insane amount of pass-rushing moves, Lawrence has been well-coached on ways to shed blocks against the run.

Where he needs to improve:

Instead of almost solely relying on his acceleration when reacting to the snap to win, Lawrence needs to be able to lean on his hand work more often to beat offensive linemen then explode to the quarterback. Right now, he's not a hand-use master. Lawrence isn't a run-stopper only, but that's clearly his area of expertise at the time being.

What hurts his is no depth to rotate and doesn't look like coach O is doing anything about that this year either, me being selfish wants him to stay if I was him I'd go

I'd be shocked if he was a 2nd or 3rd rounder.

I think if he comes back he can be a 2-3 rounder. There is a truckload of defensive line studs in this years draft

Yeah, I agree with that assessment of him, he needs to learn to use his hands more effectively. Once he learns that along with a few pass rush moves he'll be unstoppable, he needs to get with the Bosa brothers to learn how to use his hands, those two are experts at hand usage and are always getting to the QB because of it.

Rarely do Lsu players return even when it's clear as day they should.

Deepest DL draft in years. Maybe ever. Could easily drop to the fifth round. He needs to stay for his own good.

I would Say players come back more often than they leave and not make an NFL team.

Tre White
Beckwith
Collins
Chark
A lot of people from that 2011 team were draft elligable and came back for a 4th year including Minho, Montgomery and Bennie Logan.

Toby Weathersby And Tolliver are the only two I think Really fricked up leaving early, but Tolliver made a team and is playing in the NFL on a good defense.

thats what his "value" is, it doesnt mean he would get drafted there... there is no reason for him to declare early to get drafted in the 5-6th round. You are losing a shite ton of money... the vast majority of guys do not stay in the league for 5+ years... you cannot rely on the "retirement" package, the vast majority of what you make comes from the first contract for most guys...

This is the most loaded DL class the last 10 years in the draft... no way he should declare... He should come back, get better with his hands, prove to NFL teams he is durable, go in the second round next year and cash a $5 million dollar check instead of a $100-500k one. Hell, Aranda could promise him some calls to get his sack numbers up vs the weaker teams...

for far too long guys have left early thinking they would get either drafted late or sign as a UDFA and make tons of money... Proof is in the pudding, they make nothing and are the first ones cut... He has no kids, no family to "take care of" his school is paid for, living expenses are paid for, get your degree... hell, we should have a pipeline of future employers that should promise these guys jobs if they stay and graduate... Its not the same NFL it was 10 years ago where you needed that "extra year in the league" they are cutting guys left and right because there is so much talent and so many guys that "can" make it in the league...

There is literally only two guys that should leave, Greedy and Devin... and if devin wants to stay one more year with his team, he is a grown arse man, he should do what he wants... the money would be there the next year regardless, either NFL contract or cashing an insurance policy... Any company in the state of LA would hire that SOB in 2 seconds flat and pay him a shitload for a cush job that any of us wish we could have because of his name recognition...

Why do you assume he'd go in the second round next season?

not saying he would but he would have a better "chance" to... this years class might be the best ever in the draft... im not a gambling man but id bet the house that he's a 5th rounder at best in this class... Id rather come back another year and have a chance at the 2nd round and cash a much bigger check on my first contract... Because the chances are very high that it would be the only contract he gets...

He retweeted a bunch of the O stuff when he said our lineman just weren't good enough and we needed better players.

This is an incredibly deep dline class. Hopefully, he stays.

Lol no.

Mingo and Montgomery were sophomores in 2011 and both left in 12 when they could.

I think he's saying that it will be more wear on his body. Not that it would hurt his draft status. I could be wrong though.
