I'm sure the punk jumped out of his truck and started beating up on guys twice his size. Seems reasonable to me.
If he was full of liquid courage it's plausible.

If the Shady4 started the fight with the football players as suggested by the only third party witnesses to date, then the football players were justified in using force
That won't be the end of it, but here are some relevant statutes:
LSA-R.S. 14:19A provides:
The use of force or violence upon the person of another is justifiable when committed for the purpose of preventing a forcible offense against the person or a forcible offense or trespass against property in a person's lawful possession, provided that the force or violence used must be reasonable and apparently necessary to prevent such offense, and that this Section shall not apply where the force or violence results in a homicide.
LSA-R.S. 14:21
A person who is the aggressor or who brings on a difficulty cannot claim the right of self-defense unless he withdraws from the conflict in good faith and in such a manner that his adversary knows or should know that he desires to withdraw and discontinue the conflict.
LSA-R.S. 14:22
It is justifiable to use force or violence or to kill in the defense of another person when it is reasonably apparent that the person attacked could have justifiably used such means himself, and when it is reasonably believed that such intervention is necessary to protect the other person.

This happens all the time. Anyone remember the Aussie (I think) punk that was bullying the fat kid twice his size? Kid picked him up and power bombed him on the sidewalk. Size has nothing to do in determining who the aggressor is.

Seems you should take your own advice.

Your statement that they are the only third party witnesses to date is wrong. A 1L would know that statement is wrong.
Statements are only good if they are deemed trustworthy.

what? Most witness testimony has some degree of bias.
What was untrustworthy about the girls account from the police report? The one the police reference as third party witness?

And this is normally something for the factfinder (judge or jury) to determine.

For someone so smart, your bias really shows.
Why did the football players leave the scene when the cops were coming?
I think all parties are pretty guilty based off of everything thats come out.

I know this was sarcasm, but the fact is no one is sure of anything, yet people (I'm assuming you are one of them based on your post) have already vilified the players. It truly is disgusting to me. From what I have heard about the marine from people I trust, not just fatties with a keyboard, I believe that he has friends that are retarded enough to pick fights with football players larger than them.

this appears to be the only reasonable position.

does it allow them to kick defenseless people on the ground in the head?
Posted on 8/26/11 at 8:24 am to just me
I'm sorry, but kicking a man in the head when he is on the ground, no justification for that type of action.
