Why do you keep linking us to something saying how great a QB Bert Jones was? That wasn't your original argument.
The term 'pure passer' has zilch to do with arm strength.
And then you say JR threw it 80 (which is accurate) yards and Bert Jones threw it 100. Do you know how ridiculous that sounds?

Stan Humphries didn't finish at LSU but had a very strong arm while there.

He said that Bert Jones was the best "pure passer" that he'd ever seen, not the strongest arm.
You'd be wrong and he said it AFTER HAD COME AND GONE.

Jeff Wickersham's arm was probably a little stronger than Mett's. Both had above average NFL arms but not the cannons of Bert Jones and Jamarcus. I'd give the edge to Jones. That mother humper would throw a 25 yard post that didn't appear to bend at all.
Brandon Harris is right there behind Mett, imo - as long as accuracy doesn't matter.

I posted a link to JRuss COMBINE article bcause someone challenged me on the article I read. There is was AT HIS COMBINE. Even said that wasn't what he likely could do.
There is ZERO contradiction.
I saw Ensminger chunk is at Central. He had a freaking cannon. If there are people from that era in this rant, they will Tell you the arm strength that dude had.
What I don't get is how some of the people discredit other great athletes
It's like saying Wilt wouldn't dominate in the NBA or other kids saying MJ was just average because they never saw it in real time.

Bert Jones! Wasn't he the Heisman runner up in 1972? Has any other LSU QB since even been mentioned?

I haven't noticed anyone discrediting any lsu QB. We'd obviously had some guys with in credible arm strength come through here.
But plenty of very knowledgable NFL analyst said that JR has the strongest arm they had ever seen at any level. He's at least top 3 in history of football.
I'll never forget the first pass I saw him throw in a game. They ran it back in slow motion and it still looked like full speed of every other QB lol.

Yeah, I just don't see how someone could have a stronger arm than Jamarcus Russell. Not just distance either, I saw video of him throw the ball 50 yards to a receiver WITH NO ARC.

We went to the first spring game he played in his first pass was a 20 yard square in it looked like a three yard hitch the ball was there so fast. The whole crowd let out an ooooh! When he threw it. He had a once in a lifetime arm.

I saw wickersham play he was the first lsu qb I watched. I forgot to list him but he's more around Jamie Howard than mett. Mett had a bigger arm by some margin.

For all the arm strength Russell had, he constantly underthrew receivers. In the "interference/no interference" game against Auburn, we would have won the game if he had thrown the ball far enough.
He did the same thing earlier in the game on the opposite end of the field on what should have been a touchdown pass. It was maddening how many times he did it.

True he threw a lot of off balance passes. I was watching aurburn 05 this afternoon and the announcers were talking about how he gets away with it because of his arm. We all know the kid wasn't a worker or dedicated to his craft it's the reason his nfl career went bust and it's the reason he couldn't beat randall for the starting job his redshirt fresh season. It's a shame he wasted one of the greatest physical gifts of our generation.

There was a video from the Manning camp. Russell threw from the goal line, and the ball landed at the 10,out of bounds

Jones didn't have Bowe, Davis, and Doucet
