I put 09 at top because the 97 team won the regular SEC Championship the day after losing to Alabama by a score of 22-2. Bama won the Conference tournament that year and we beat Bama in the NC game.
The 09 team won the season, tournament and CWS and was consistent throughout the season, especially down the stretch.

So did 1989 and 1990.

after looking back through some of the recaps, the first thing that jumps out at me is that the '93 team was stronger than i remember and the '91 team outside of the pitching wasn't quite as good as i remember. what the '09 team did in terms of consistency was amazing which is weird because i felt all year long they could have been dominant but had things happen like dean and landry's slumps, the infield being lax until the switch, etc. let's face it, lsu should have NEVER had to rely on the freshman nearly as much as we did this season. the main reason why lsu was ranked so highly to start the season was because there were so many returning starters. but, there were wholesale changes that replaced vets because they weren't getting it done. so, they were very inconsistent in their consistency. that seems to suggest mainieri is really good. the '96 team only won 1 sec tourney game and got swept at florida even though they got revenge with two cws wins against the gaytors. the 2000 team was pretty strong especially in the postseason.

Question: Do you rank Barry Bonds home run achievement as high as Hank Aaron's. If not, why do we not treat '97 the same way?

not exactly sure what you mean by the question but that '97 roared through the postseason. i can't see putting them at the bottom. at least not below 2000 or '96

regardless of the truth of any unsubstantiated accusations, that '97 team was killer, and i'm not just referring to home runs. that's why i put them where i did. i think you're focusing on just one aspect of the game: home runs.

was 28-2

yada yada yada

I'll rank a team that went undefeated throughout the postseason higher than one that didn't. The 2000 team rolled from the SEC tournament on beating great pitching from UT, USC (prior), FSU and Stunford's 2 headed monster. 2000 team #1 easily in my opinion.
