The game of college football is way different when jones played compared to JR. Anyone with ANY football knowledge would know this. There is no telling how great jones would have been had he played when JR did.

You said JR is the only qb to LEAD LSU to back to back 10 win seasons. Which is false

Take it up with lsu sports.net. because that comes from the official lsu sports site. Ill take their opinion over the the opinion of the laughing stock of TD.

You said JJ rushing record aren't individual records because he didnt block for himself.

You said the qb is the leader of the team in the JJ thread and now becUse it doesnt fit your ignorant opinion you change it. I didnt base my argument of how good Jruss was with his games won. I just put it one their because thats what LSU SPORTS HAD ON THERE.

People talking about how the times changed. . .

Jones and Hodson never had 6'5 300 lb DE's that run 4.6 40's chasing them down.

In the 80's, having a guy run a 4.5 was considered rare track speed on the football field. Now, that is the speed of OLB's.

Bert Jones would soil himself against today's competition.

Exactly. Also Hodson played in late 1980's.

Dont know about that but i do know that Jruss played qb AT LSU better than jones. The only qb with an argument is Hodson.

You missed the whole point. But I expect that from you. Again you get all pissy when someone confronts you and are right. Typical name calling just like s little kid. YOU want to biast JJ as some great qb. Now you are doing the same with JR. I have him near the top of LSU qbS . I guess you didn't see that cause all you focus on is getting all crybaby when you are proven wrong. And LSU sports OPINion is no better than mine... Good we will have it your way... Matt Flynn LED LSU to the 2007 NC. Just like JR LED LSU to back to back 10 win seasons....

"You could make a pretty good case that Tyler was better than Hodson."

Unless you actually watched them!

Seriously, though, Tyler was a completely different kind of QB whose game was built primarily on running and who could also throw. Hodson was a pure passer.

Facts dont back this up.

FACT:
Hodson - all SEC 3 of 4 years
JR - all SEC 1 year

"Bert Jones would soil himself against today's competition."

He was the MVP of the freakin' NFL and was 6'3" 210 without modern weight training. This is ridiculous!

Yes those are facts (I think) but they make a weak-arse argument.

The offensive linemen are bigger and faster today as well. As for who is better I don't think a fair comparison can be made because they played in different eras.

Maybe, but you're comparing QB's in different eras, under different rules, in completely different schemes. Here is a fact: Jones, despite some disadvantages of playing under Coach Mac finished 4th in the Heisman voting, while JRuss somehow failed to crack the top 10. Don't get me wrong, I think Russell should have been in the top 10, but the point is that those who watched Jones play QB "AT LSU" thought he played it damn well.

I'll be thrilled if Harris has a comparable year to either Hodson or JR. Go Tigers. Kick bama's azz.

Yeah the only three you can make legit argument for are JR, Jones and Hodson. I really think you can go any order. JR had the numbers, Hodson has the awards and Jones has the NFL career (which I think is by far the least important in this discussion but some people can't see past it). I put JR first because of the sec was on another level when he played. Can't be mad at any order between them though.

Would also be interesting to see how the 3 compare on late game performances and
Comebacks. JR was big time in that area, I really have no clue on the other 2. That's why i don't get the JR was a dumb Qb argument. Dude was clutch and the kind of player you wanted it in his hands at the biggest moments. That just doesn't equate to a dumb on the field player. Now dumb off the field in personal life that's another argument.

I didn't know he was NFL MVP. That is a pretty amazing accomplishment
