I feel like it should be New Orleans. Atlanta is a terrible football city.

New Orleans is the prime destination for a title game. Of course as a biased LSU fan it would be sick too.

It would also be cool to do alternating cities too. Like NOLA one year ATL next maybe even throw in Miami or something too.

I think should add in NRG and AT&T Stadium after Oklahoma and Texas join the conference.

add Nashville when they finish the new stadium they announced last week.

Also add New Orleans and a Florida NFL stadium

I kind of like it. It’s geographically pretty close to the center of the SEC. Maybe with OU and Texas in the conference it would shift it toward New Orleans

Proximity to Birmingham. New Orleans would be exactly the same as if it were in Atlanta. It would be further away from one of the divisions. If it rotates after realignment, it will be to Dallas.

That stadium isn’t a done deal yet. Sounds like there are plenty of people who are against it, especially state-wide since it depends on state instead of local funding. It’s also planned to be relatively small with less than 70k seats.

Atlanta Falcons fans would probably say the same about New Orleans.

The main reason is probably because it is a domed in environment for a game in December. Atlanta & New Orleans are really the only 2 options.

SEC Champ in years past, outside of the National Championship, would play in the Sugar Bowl. They wouldn’t want to play there 2 games in a row.

Originally it was at Legion Field in Birmingham which was of course complete bs. Atlanta is actually centrally located for the 12 team SEC, iirc everyone but LSU and Arkansas are within a 6 hour drive or something like that.

New Orleans is the site of the Sugar Bowl were the SEC Champs went in the pre playoff days. Since it still hosts the top SEC team not in the playoffs you could still get teams (SECCG loser) playing back to back games there, who would travel for that ?

Bounce around to stadiums in neither teams state. Exclude mizzou because who wants to go there.

Thd stadium in Atlanta is a great place for football. It is better than the Superdone.

NO was the best city to host a big game at one time, but things change and I’m afraid it’s lost some of it’s mojo.

That old place may be pretty nice if the proposed $100 million in upgrades go through. Not SEC Championship Game nice, but a hell of a stadium for a good G5 program and a mid-tier bowl game.

Rotating between Atlanta, New Orleans, Nashville, and Dallas would be very cool. Maybe throw in Jacksonville.

Based off my completely sober geographic analysis, this is the closest median of locales.

Logistics. If the division winner were to clinch the last week of the season, Atlanta is easier for everyone to make accommodations and flights on a few days notice. That would be my uneducated guess.
