The way I see it, if you lose one of the first 2, you have to come back and win 3 to make it to the championship series anyway, so having Ranaudo go again on Wednesday, sets up Coleman friday, Ross saturday and then your regular rotation for a championship series. I know its against Mainieri's belief though. He likes to go with whoever is available to give you the best chance to stay alive, and I agree with that.

Good points. I trust Manieri's decision, he knows more about these players than me.

Lets assume we win our first two games then we play don't play again til Friday did I see that right??? That would mean Ranaudo Saturday Coleman Monday and Ranaudo Friday....and if we win that one then to the Championship series Coleman on Monday Ranaudo on Tuesday and Ross (if necessary) on Wednesday
Only problem with that is Ranaudo going on 3 days of rest if we advance to the championship. Might see Ross before Ranaudo if we win game 1 of the championship series.
ETA: Yes I believe if we lose one of our first two games that you come back with Ranaudo on Wednesday....with the intensity that the kid has in a backs to the wall situation I wouldn't hesitate to put him out there on 3 days rest if he feels good

Look at the amount of strikeouts:innings pitched. He seems to get more strikeouts per 9 than most those pitchers. I don't really feel like doing math right now, so if someone wants to calculate, go right ahead.

That's right and good point about Ranaudo pitching on 3d rest in champ.

No way. If Ranaudo and Coleman have quality outings and go deep into the game you won't see them until the championship series. If we are 2-0 why would you pitch Ranaudo on only 6 days rest when Ross is available? That saves Ranaudo for the championship series. IF you choose to pitch Ranaudo on Friday, you WON'T see him the rest of the season after that. Unless he only pitched a few innings, then maybe he could come back on Wednesday if we lost a game.

If you lose 1 of the first 2 I hate to tell you but Ross is going to be the best option. A rested Ross > Ranaudo on 3 days rest.
We could debate this all day. It doesn't matter what we think. But I think ya'll are underestimating how much rest our guys are going to need, especially if we use them for the championship series.

I can tell you that it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see Ross instead of Ranaudo on Friday if we win both of the first two. In fact I would probably agree with that better......but in a backs to the wall situation I'd put my money behind Ranaudo....3 days rest Ranaudo >>>> Ross IMO....reason I say this is because of his stuff and his intensity
ETA No this is not a bash against Ross cause I think he would step up and get us that win as well I just have a little more confidence in Ranaudo.....but who gives a crap what I think Maneiri is the only one that matters and it is a nice problem to have really

Exactly. Ross on Friday means we are 2-0 and our backs aren't against the wall. If we win we have our whole staff, minus Ross, for the championship series, well rested. If we lose on Friday, now we come with Ranaudo in the pressure game, more rested.

I'm not as convinced of this. His stuff and his intensity could be diminished because of reasons beyond his control, fatigue.

possible Ranaudo breaks school record for K's next season?
Pretty sure he's a goner after a world series win with the MVP...

That's the real question. If we win Saturday and Monday I wouldn't be surprised to see ross on Friday to set up our pitching for the series

Also, UVA has only one lefty (and a switch-hitting catcher) in their lineup, yes?

Ranaudo is not draft eligible. he's guaranteed back next season.
