The DEFENSIVE play calling at the end of these games was atrocious is more like it.

This gave me quite a chuckle!

THIS! And I hate the way he left his players. I think our veterans have something to prove. I actually think the chip on their shoulders concerning this, along with a different 2 minute drill will make our D amazing!

I tried warning you guys 3 years ago about Aggie fans
I knew they would become most hated. Their entitlement is so ridiculous. Also their little brother syndrome to Texas.

aTm's defense looked pretty good Saturday night. I'm not sure how physical ASU is since the PAC12 hasn't been known for being a real physical conference other than Stanford perhaps. Someone pointed out that the Sundevils had two new offensive tackles and their best back was sick and didn't play in the game.
Chavis is a good coach but lets see how they fare when the start playing teams from the SEC that are going to be better at running the ball.

Chavis knows how to contain the spread with a mobile QB as well or better than anyone. He did it against Manziel, Marshall, Oregon, and others.
But...for the most part, in games that count, that's not who he'll be facing. We'll see as the season goes along how he fares against teams with a power running game.

quote:it's funny to read on here when someone coaches here they are the best in the country as OC, DC, etc. But they leave & all of a sudden they suck, the replacement is now the best in the country.
I don't get the hate. Chavis was a great coach while at LSU

My thoughts exactly. That Garrett kid looked pretty good the other night, but lets see how well he does after a few games and the wear and tear of SEC play starts to affect that defense.

No one is saying Chavis sucks. He's a very good DC with some glaring flaws.
However, for anyone to think Chavis leaving means we will fall apart on defense is just hoping it will happen; history says otherwise. In the last 13 years, our defense has been extremely good (sans 2008, but still statistically Top 25) and usually dominant, and Chavis was only here for 6 of those seasons.

I think everyone recognizes that LSU always has good talent on defense. But, you'll have to forgive Aggie fans for thinking that your defense is going to suffer simply by having Kevin Steele as the coordinator, based on his tenure as HC at Baylor, which A&M fans are intimately familiar with. Now, that maybe misplaced thinking--he's a coordinator at LSU, which is vastly different from being a HC--but, if you watched Steele during his Baylor tenure, it's just hard to believe that he won't be a drag on LSU's level of performance. His tenure at Baylor was a failure of epic proportions, and it's just hard for anyone who watched it to see him any other way, right or wrong, until he proves otherwise. Lord knows, LSU will set him up with the talent to change that perception, but until he actually gets it done, that Baylor record will be all that I can think of when I think of Kevin Steele.

Unfortunately they will be better on defense, suck it up and deal with it. They were laughably bad and Chavis is a good coach. A&M fans however are the worst. They act like football blue bloods - I mean Oklahoma, Notre Dame, and Alabama historically good. Prior to sumlin they had very few top 10 finishes, let alone titles. The Scientology comparison was spot on.

We'll wait and see.....you can't deny that A&M's D looked pretty good.....ours???......who knows????

...but ASU did not look like a 15th ranked team in the country.
