What new arena? Does any sane person actually think LSU is getting a new basketball arena?

Hint: we are not.

Upgrade the current PMAC and paint a big eye on the roof and we are good!

A season in the Centroplex while they completely demolish the PMAC and build a new arena would actually be pretty sweet.

It's a rectangular (important configuration) arena and a little smaller at 8,900 seats for a louder, more intimate setting. We'd have sellouts and a packed house every SEC game.

LSU is hemorrhaging $$$$$$. Sure we need to build a new arena.

Last I read LSU athletics is projected to lose $80 M this year. State is broke. Where is the money coming from?

The PMAC will get a complete remodel soon, but anyone thinking they will demolish it and build from scratch is a fool.

Define soon because the last I heard was they were planning to add on to the basketball practice complex and that’s it and that was prior to the pandemic. There was nothing being said about a remodel of the arena.

How many times will this topic be rehashed?

Wade's first concern is updating and renovating the practice facility!!! Any major renovations or replacement of the PMAC is far behind this in Wade's wants.

With the Covid crisis induced money issues, I would imagine that any major new building projects will be that much harder to get going.

LSU spent 40 million dollars to build a stadium for a sport (baseball) that makes no money. Build the damn new arena for the sport (basketball)that makes the second most money!

It hasn't been the Centroplex in years. Get with the program, Boat.

LSU baseball is one of the few baseball programs in America that operate in “the black”. LSU baseball is 100% self sufficient. Unlike all other LSU athletic programs (with the exception of basketball), LSU baseball is not reliant on football to pay it’s bills. That said, LSU baseball is heavily reliant on attendance to generate ample revenue to pay it’s bills. They do not operate at a deficit in normal years.

I thought I had heard where there was a plan to drastically renovate the P-Mac and remove significant existing seating to add suites etc. My understanding that there were plans to remove the current ramps in lieu of stairs etc. Seriously, short of adding suites and updating the press box etc., what is wrong with the existing P-Mac structure? How much different would a new arena be in terms of it’s structural bones? I doubt LSU is going to drop super major coins to build a really nice arena that offered way more compared to what they currently have. How different are other SEC arena’s in terms of potential? I’m asking as I’ve not been to any other SEC arena’s. What exactly is different?

You’re living a lie! No TAF revenue from football..... then no new LSU baseball stadium. So stop saying we can’t spend money on a new basketball arena. When they spend 40 million dollars for a stadium on a sport (baseball) that makes no money!

Does not equal this

Two things can be true.

There is no new LSU baseball stadium without LSU football

LSU baseball turns a profit yearly. It has been this way for a long time.

I think the school as a whole is losing 80 mil this year not the athletic department.

Come on man.... they barely make money! Not enough to build a 40 million dollar stadium. Skip Bertman funneled the TAF money from football to pay for it. FACT!
