If by some chance we don't win the SEC Tournament, they better not frick around and let us host a couple of NIT games...Baker and the boys will be holding that thing at the end

Finals in Historic Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis April 4...book your Rooms and make travel plans early next week.

Finish it off in Indy, a few miles where we fell short in 2006

Good point, we're running that bitch in Nashville...4 straight..probably get a 10 seed in the NC---2 A Toy-nament...unless the arse holes make us play in Dayton 2 days later...with a 9-9 reg. SEC record..i don't see it though

How long as the NIT final 4 not been at MSG? Way to dilute the stakes even more

LSU has won the SEC tournament 1 time, in 1980. Got to the Elite Eight. Got to the FInal Four the next season.

Could be the start of something big!

Last year it was in Las Vegas which was the first time it wasn't in NYC (other than the 2021 tournament when we were still pretending Covid was a big deal).

On the one hand it does dilute the appeal. But on the other, I'm willing to bet the "Final Four" would have some pretty good crowds in Indianapolis.

I've been looking at some NIT projections

One has us totally out
One has us hosting Memphis as a 4
One has us traveling to Virginia Tech as a 5

at 9-9 in SEC Play...despite some Non-Confrence hiccups...I don't see how anyone can have us out of the NIT...that'd be crazy..guess we'll see....it'd be nice get a win Thur

To be completely honest, I dont know how the NIT sets hierarchy after the auto bids. I can see historically the ncaa tournament uses the NET, I can assume the NIt does as well, considering the 1 and 2 seeds being based on net.

One thing I do appreciate will be the likely parity. Without autobids, there should be many pushovers. Likely good basketball games all the way up.

You also have to consider that some teams may choose to turn down an invitation to the NIT and just move on to next season. While LSU may be excited to get to the NIT this season, many schools aren't. They see it as a disappointment. Take a school like Washington. They are currently in line for a NIT birth mostly because the Pac-12 sucks donkey but two teams from there have to go. They've already announced their HC is fired after their final game. So it is entirely possible they just want to get to the process of getting ready for next season instead of playing in a consolation tournament

Absolutely, i remember doing that in 2016 I believe. You have to believe a majority of schools would accept barring circumstances like a new head coach, or the players not wanting to participate.

Someone posed the question earlier of which is better, one and done in the NCAAT or making a deep run into the NIT. Of course, getting into the NCAA and losing in the first round seems better than a deep NIT run. Until you’re in it!

Let’s say we get dispatched in the first round of the NCAAT, and the season is over. Who remembers the 2005 or the 2015 NCAATs? fricking no one. You’re excited on a Thursday, the game happens, then you’re back to watching baseball.

Or, imagine going through the highs of winning four games in a row and getting to the NIT Championship. What an amazing rollercoaster that would be! Sign me up for a deep NIT run every time.

The standing up for McMahon on here is hilarious. Only two options, people that work for the program or people salty that fans are sad we let a better coach go in Wade.

Kelly gets crap.
Mulkey has gotten crap.
Jay Johnson gets crap.
Beth Torina gets crap.

and LITERALLY the worst athletic team at the school, yet I see like 3-5 threads everyday pumping McMahon and his below average team.
