Not a very good game to judge Walker's skills off. He has the arm strength to throw across his body and on the run. Like you said he was running for his life all night. STM's o-line was no match for Ruston.
And to the other guy asking about the injury, he had a fractured fibula midway thru his senior year. I think the injury has been blown out of proportion by some on here. He was back on the field just a few weeks after the injury and played (I believe) the final 4 games of the season and into the semi-finals in the playoffs.
I'd love to see him play this year, but if he does, it means we are either WAY ahead in a game or WAY behind with 2 qb's really stinking it up. I don't see how we get way up on any team at this point except maybe UAB.

They called player only meetings all the time under Miles when the offense was stagnant and we were losing too. Doesn't really reinforce your point. Sure, they're not executing scheme but that also doesn't mean the OC is putting them in the best position to execute it either.

Howard is very fast actually. He’s a legit dual threat. Burrow was sneaky fast. Howard has legit speed

Can only go by how Walker, Bech and their team dismantled a very good DeLaSalle team for the state championship title.
They had no answer for Howard and his receivers.
He's going to impress many Tigers.

So why was Jamie hell bent on a redshirt?

With our RPO offense we’ll HAVE to be able to run the ball when he’s our QB1. Yes he is sneaky good at running but by no means a “dual threat” qb
There are still way too many people who have no idea what a RPO is and pretend like they do.
And no one knows how Walker Howard will do because they haven’t seen him throw a single pass in a college game. There are tons of highly rated high school quarterbacks that don’t end up being elite. Hell Jayden Daniels was rated higher than Walker coming out of high school.

All I can think of is it gives him a year of physical development before he starts taking hits. In today's era I don't get taking the redshirt either. Either he's going to be good enough to be drafted after his 3rd year or we're looking to replace.

Like Joe Burrow, right?

i said what i said because he *should be an absolute monster of a throwing QB. This kid's ability to throw an accurate ball is elite amongst the elite. If we have no running game defenses will anticipate the pass.

He's LSU's first legit heisman level talent out of high school since Brandon Harris. That kid was done horribly wrong by Miles and Cam Cameron.

I'm petrified that Bech is going to get pissed that we aren't using him properly or enough and he bounces.
JD isn't the answer, he won't be drafted and will probably stick around another year. That is bad for us.
I'd like to see a QB whomever it is that can go through his progressions and hit WIDE OPEN receivers.

He moves better than people think, he can move. The IQ part is hard to overstate. Jamie has been drilling QB play into this kid from the time he could walk. He's grounded, so humble and a genuinely good person. People will follow him, he just needs a little time at this level to earn the trust.
He will win a NC at LSU, no doubt in my mind.

I don't see any question that JD comes back.
But...I'm hoping Nussy bounces and that leaves WH and Collins in the room.
If JD actually improves throughout the season (like he should) we are in a strong position at QB. If WH were to beat him out next year that would just mean we are stronger still.

If Denbrock couldn’t scheme a game plan, the pass play he called to Emery that almost went for a TD wouldn’t have happened and wouldn’t have been so damn wide open. That’s doesn’t mean I think he is phenomenal but I highly doubt the offensive problems are all his fault like a certain group would lead you to believe.

Where this will be a big advantage is, when plays break down, they will have a rapport and know what each other will do and it will help them convert a bunch of plays that normally wouldn’t be converted.

Probably because he doesn't want the same thing happen to his son that happened to him, i.e. thrown to the wolves too soon.
Jamie's freshman stats: 101 of 200 passes for 1,349 yards, five TDs and 13 interceptions
