I hate to say it, but Fournette is not as good as advertized. He had several openings last night that somebody like Melvin Gordon probably would have taken to the house.

Just so we're clear...We're talking about the Melvin Gordon who ran for 98 yard his freshman year (due to injury) and 621 yards his sophomore season?

You can't compare a senior to a freshman.

DBs are usually faster than RBs, especially the typical LSU back. Hill did not start breaking all those long runs until he was a junior. Give LF some time, he will be a force to reckon with.

I had this exact question on another post. LF's long run should have been a TD if he had the elite speed everyone says, but he got caught.

I like our RBs but they don't have breakaway speed.

You are one of the worst posters on this site. The things you say show your ignorance so much that it shines like a street light.

Obviously you have never stepped on a football field because if you did then you would realize there are angles on every play. People can catch people because of angles regardless of speed. Also to say Fournette doesn't have elite speed is another example of your pure ignorance to the sport. Please stop just spewing dumb shite like you know things that obviously you have zero clue about, for the love of god please stop.

Serious question. Have either one of you ever played sports? The DB had an angle on LF. Usain Bolt could be run down by someone with the proper angle.

Sure have, boss. The dude's angle wasn't very significant and he was almost directly behind LF when the tackle was made.

Another thing you have to consider is fatigue. Sometimes in a game you will be faster than other times. Particularly if you are driving with your legs into a pile. Try doing that - the equivalent of doing squats - and then run a sprint shortly afterwards. Sometimes even after making a few cuts your legs will stiffen up a lot or just slightly but enough to affect your speed.

LF doesn't have Bo Jackson speed (not even Adrian Peterson has that) but he is very fast and looks noticeably more explosive to me than any other LSU back. When you factor that in with his natural power, size and his very impressive open field moves and agility, you have a rare package.

Kid is awesome and is only going to get better. I'm a Miles fan but was really frustrated to see Fournette taken out right after he did that damage. Should have keep feeding him the ball in my opinion.... maybe he was dinged or cramping. I like Magee but if Fournette is ready to go then no other running back is going to be the threat that he is.

Everyone loves to throw around the elite word... By definition LF does not have elite speed, too many people are as fast as him. Elite can only be like 10 people. Trindon holiday had elite speed, Chris Johnson had elite speed. LF is just fast

No you aren't. You know as well as the rest of us that you are more then happy to bad mouth every player or coach that you set your sights on.

Ok well you just joined the ignorant class on this site. The kid runs a sub 4.4 and he is double the size of Trindon. It's angles people angles. He is the fastest guy on LSU football team per LSU coaching staff. At his size that's elite sorry buddy. But keep bashing the guy you're so cool.

We dont have an incredible back like jeremy hill to break it off at the 2nd level, thats why.
LF is good, but he lacks vision once he gets to the secondary.

Fournette had a couple of plays he could have taken to the house the other night.

One where he got tripped up.

One where the DB had a good angle and LF just wasn't quite able to get beyond him.

And a third where there was no one on the right side of the field, and he juked the safety and went left, right into the other two DBs. If he fakes and goes right, or even just tries to explode outside by him, he goes the distance since there was no one there.

LF has taken longer than I thought to put it all together, but he's a much better back now than week 1 or 2. I don't know if his vision is now maxed out or if it will continue to develop - but vision is one of the things he needs to improve in order to be elite.

I know which play you are talking about and i agree.

Not sure vision is something that is learned, but we will see

Lack breakaway speed. Not a knock at all on the RBs. but they can't outrun a DB. That's one thing we are missing from Hill. Dude had amazing breakaway speed for a RB.

LF runs north/south too much. He needs to run a little more east/west and spread the defense out

Leonard's got a ways to go before he is mentioned in J Hill's class. Not to say he wont, not bashing Fournette here. Just reminding people just how good Hill was. He may be the most underrated superstar LSU has had. I think the OP forgot why we had so many go to the house last year. There were several 4 yard gains this yr that Hill wouldve scored on.People didnt catch Hill last year or this year for that matter.
