Question about the first CFB playoff bracket that comes out Nov 5.

Will the LSU/A&M winner be listed in one of the Top 4 slots since they’ll be undefeated and alone in first in the current SEC standings? Do they base the ranking on their predicted conf/polls finish at the end of the season or where things stand the day of the release?
I doubt either one will be the highest ranked SEC team on No. 5th, but they would be the Conf Champs based on the standings that day.

Pure speculation here, but i think they just rank the teams 1-25.
The way the seeding works is that the top 4 highest ranked conference champions have a bye.
So they aren't releasing a bracket, just the rankings. Then folks can tweak it to a bracket based on whatever they want (predicted endings, if it ended today, etc.)

They’ll be releasing the top 25 CFP rankings on 11/5. If they do a bracket projection, it would just be the top ranked schools listed as conference champ so probably UGA as SEC Champ

As someone else said, it’s just a ranking, not a bracket. In fact whenever they do reveal the final bracket, it’s extremely likely that at least one of the “top 4 teams” in the bracket will not be a top 4 team in their actual ranking. For example, the Big 12 champion.
But you can easily extrapolate what the exact bracket would be from the ranking that they release.

My best guess is that they'll go about their normal ranking 25-1, and at the end they'll show where everyone would be if they playoff started today. Good question about the actual standings - hopefully they'd go with who the true standings leaders are, but ESPN tends to do whatever gets the highest ratings, so I won't count on it.
