Question about next year's O-Line.

After a regular season with a disappointing o-line, what is there to expect with next season's o-line? I know the middle three were usually much smaller than the guys they faced across the line, so will we remain an undersized line? Who is predicted to be new starters next year? And finally, do you feel confident in next year's line? Thanks for your input.

Well, we'll be losing a 1st team All-SEC selection that has started more games at LT than anyone in LSU history for starters.
With the way the line looked this year, I don't know how anyone can honestly think it's going to be better next season.

Miles was an Olineman so we'll be fine.

We will have the size:
Barksdale
Hardrick
Faulk
Blackwell
Shaw
Longeran
All these guys are over 300lbs. Yes, most of them are tackles but they can be moved inside if needed. If not, Dworaczyk will be bigger as well as Parsons.
The line will be alot bigger next year but it will have a few new guys there too. I think the line will be alot better next year, especially if Miles gets a new Oline coach.

It can't get any worse.
The hope is that between Hardrick, Faulk, Shaw at least 2 of the spots are upgraded. I am also hopeful that we will be better coached on the line.

Yes. It's crazy to think that the O-line will not be much better next year. We've got tons of young pups in the pipeline, and they will be competing like hell amongst each other next spring and summer.

I'd like to think so, because it's hard for me to assume improvement next season when in all actuality we are replacing more next season than we had to this past season.

The attrition was felt this year. However, next year we'll just replace Hitt with blackwell and black with faulk. Hebert, dworaczyk, and barksdale will still start an play 99% of the snaps

We switched to a zone blocking scheme this year. Maybe we will ditch it or maybe another year will help the players. Pass protection really wasn't as bad as people make it sound. JJ just needs to learn to throw the ball away.

Did you forget about Alex Hurst? He may be the best of the linemen and is not small.

Strengths v. weaknesses. Utilize your players strengths, try to hide their weaknesses. Our coaching staff is a complete FAIL in that regard.

i think 2 linemen on the 2 deep chart leave, 1 jc guy comes in, as will 4 were redshirt fr. the last 2 years it was felt.

We have to replace the all team leader in career starts at LSU. Furthermore, many fans think he was coached down and stunk it up this year as it is. Yet, he started for 4 years and now needs to be replaced by someone else that will be coached ???.

my point was the affect of attrition is not getting worse from here on. it had nothing to do with team leaders

Or JJ can throw the ball away when there isn't anyone open. Not going to argue that the play calling is bad, but it's not like there are people in his face constantly when he finishes his drop back. He gets plenty of time to make decisions, he just decides to dance around too much.

We theoretically could upgrade in size based on general yearly growth or new players, but there is no reason to believe technique and fundamentals will improve.
Additionally everyone is counting on some new blood, but
1) Its unknown how these guys will actually perform in game. They might be bigger, but they could at the same time be worse
2) Even if they come in and replace multiple guys on the line we will lack experience and the cohesion that comes with playing OLine as a unit.
TBH I think we could improve greatly on the OLine with a new coach, but I don't know if this will happen.
