After being thrown to, receivers should either run the ball back or have a bucket nearby to drop it in to.

I am going to take a huge leap here and just assume that any player that LSU gives a scholarship to or a locker even is an athlete enough to play catch without jamming a finger with regularity.

You make a good point. It’s a terrible idea to have a QB catch a lot of passes, for the very reason you wrote - jammed fingers.
