They didn't look the part in the spring game.
The defense is always ahead of the offense in the spring. LSU's front seven is particularly salty this year.

Thing is Burrow is apparently a DT also, so it's not like it would be a Flynn/Perrilloux situation with him and Narcisse. Sounds like Burrow and Brennan would be more complimentary, but Brennan wouldn't take losing out to a transfer very well. If Burrow did come in and take the job, I could honestly see him and McMillan being the only ones left.

if we get Burrow, we basically lose Brennan for sure and likely Narcisse, right?
If this happens, how does that make our QB situation look for the future? How many QBs did we sign this last class? I forget.

that's kind of the point. it's an interesting discussion that requires 2 major assumptions: (1) Burrow is going to be pretty good and (2) he'll stay 2 years. if both are true, then that drastically changes our QB needs and we have to get a legit guy in this year
O doesn't seem to value consistency that highly so it wouldn't be shocking to see him reverse course, especially since the message boards are buzzing about the possibility of Burrow. O is all about quick fixes and keeping the fans happy with lip service, long term be damned

Let him throw out the first pitch at the Bama baseball game.
Then have someone release the rally possum.

The number of *’s behind our QB recruits’ names has clearly not been our problem...
Per 247 Composite rankings:
2007 - JL 4*
2008 - JJ 4*
2009 - RS 5*
2011 - ZM 4* (JUCO)
2011 - Jerrard Randall 4*
2012 - Liggins 4* (JUCO—>Ole Miss)
2013 - Rettig 4*
2013 - AJ 4*
2014 - BH 4*
—GAP— 3* McMillan/Scott
2017 - MB 4*
2017 - LN 4*
I'll buy that

Believing and rating Liggins and AJ as 4*s is a small piece of the problem unto itself. My neighbor laughed at AJ being a "4*" and he officiated a lot of high school football games here in Cobb County, state of GA probably had 7-8 QB prospects better than him that year and UGA certainly wasn't recruiting him. Liggins as a 4* is just mind boggling, how did that turn out for him as well? Not worth a shite as a major college QB. A lot of the issue has been with evaluating talent and/or settling for what they could get.

I personally think that ratings/stars are only a data point, a valuable and significant one, but only a single point that shouldn't be ignored. In my eyes they are an aggregation of many opinions, some informed some not, that should be put in context but never dismissed.

HOWEVER...
I've come to believe that with QBs, and QBs only, freaking ignore them. The reason being 3-fold:
1. Way to subject to bias of the level of competition and system the HS is running.
2. Way too subject to 'eye test' and 'glitz/glamor'
3. The most significant one... based too much on physical attributes. He 'looks prototypical'... extra 1/2 star. For a DL, that size/weight is of upmost importance. There are about 4 other things more important for a QB to be even remotely successful. And the raters give it too much weight as opposed to its real value come gametime.

I have enjoyed this bump, I'm so glad the stupid fricks in this thread aren't making the decisions for our program

I support whatever is best for the team. But, FWIW, this Burrow kid is a smart football player, and his best attribute by far is his ACCURACY! He has legit NFL type accuracy.
