But according to the rant, Brennan has a rocket arm and was throwing the long ball only. Finley benefited from throwing dink and dunks.

Why don't you also compare running game #'s that created balance to help take pressure off the QB? I'm sure QB Efficiency ratings would be higher for Brennan had there been any commitment to the running game. And vice-versa for Finley had roles been reversed.

RB Carries (with Brennan):
vs. Miss St.- 27
vs. Vandy- 28
vs. Missouri- 16

RB Carries (with Finley):
vs. USCe- 43

I'll chalk that up as a failure by the coaching staff

I mean Finley played great but he wasn’t asked to do anything close to what Brennan has been asked to do over his 3 starts.

And that’s a good thing. You can’t ask a true freshman to tote the load that Brennan has been asked to carry but it is what is.

They asked Finley to be a game manager and he performed his role perfectly.

12 of Finley’s 21 pass attempts came within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage. A lot of those were one read RPO’s.

We didn’t spread the field vertically really at all.

We did exactly what we should have with Finley or any young Qb. We kept it simple and we kept it safe.

We’ve asked Brennan to bomb the ball and carry the team.

nonsense.

True freshman QBs play all over the country. And play very well.

And Finley played very well.... so what’s your point?

The people who have freshmen play successfully simplify and slow the game down for them. They make it easy for them. And honestly it’s pretty fricking rare for true freshmen to be the guy early in the season at QB

He had over 200 yards passing by halftime. That's not game management. That's making plays passing the ball. We were conservative on the first drive with all of the called runs

Yall really think its difficult to throw a damn fly route or wide open post route? These are the easier throws. The anticipation Finley showed on those timing routes are much more difficult throws. I need to go back and watch the film to see if Brennan was doing the same thing on these type of routes but if you think throwing a post route is a more difficult throw then you have no idea what you are talking about.

Man look at the chart. He got the ball to his playmakers in space and they did what they do. WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT HES SUPPOSED TO DO but if you can’t see how the coaches held Finley’s hand through that game I don’t know what to tell you. A full quarter of his snaps were one read RPO’s. It gets no simpler than that.

Finley played his arse off but he wasn’t asked to make the plays that we ask Brennan to make. That’s not to say he can’t make them. I don’t know but we didn’t ask him to put the team on his back like we have Brennan.

It was a much more qb friendly game plan.

We gave Finley a lot of one read throws. It’s a lot easier to anticipate when you’ve only got 2 options.

That being said when Finley did sit back and read the field it seemed like he did a good job.

I’m not trying to discount how well he played I’m just asking people to understand he wasn’t asked to do a whole lot
