Put your money on 'game-changer' Joe Burrow in QB competition

Ed Orgeron can't say it.
As the leader of the LSU football program, he has to perform his due diligence and promote the proper spirit of competition within his football.
That's why he spent Thursday night at the LSU Caravan in Metairie promising that the competition for the LSU quarterback job is wide open.
Orgeron insisted that each of the four quarterbacks on his LSU roster will get a fair chance to win the starting job this fall. He even went so far as to explain the details of how the staff will split the practice reps evenly between the quartet during fall practice (at least for the first five days).
"We don't know who our quarterback is right now," Orgeron said with earnest sincerity.
But we know differently. Coach O can't say it, but I can: This is Joe Burrow's job to lose. The only variable is time.
Barring injury, Burrow will be the starter under center when LSU opens the season Sept. 2 against Miami, Fla. It'll be a Troy-like upset otherwise.
You know it. I know it. And if you injected some sodium pentothal into Orgeron's tanned right arm, he would admit it, too.
He just can't say it. Not as the head football coach. He owes Myles Brennan, Justin McMillan and Lowell Narcisse a fair shot at the position. And he owes it to his football team to select the player that gives them the best chance to succeed. -Jeff Duncan/NOLA

of course he's the starter. the real question is who transfers?
other than retaining aranda i think the burrow transfer is the best thing O has done.

This doesnt make any sense.
If he knows the starter, why cant he say it? Head coaches name starters all the time.
Plus if he had any faith in the qbs he would not have gone all out for a grad transfer.
Actions speak louder than words.

Anybody who has half a brain knows that Joe Burrow didn't come to god damn Baton Rouge, LA to ride the pine.
Of course he's going to start.
Of course he's going to start.

I agree. It's the player's job to go out there and win the position. The coaches have given these guys their shot up to this point.

McMillen, since he graduates in July and thus can be a graduate transfer and play right away.

He meant that if anybody other than Burrow is named the starter....that would be the magnitude of the Troy St. upset..

Well I've been told on here multiple times that the Troy loss was a actually a good loss because they went 10-2. I take that as it wasn't much of an upset then.

I feel like it would be Narcisse or McMillian that transfers.
Reason for Narcisse- He's a Redshirt freshman. He still has 4 years to make any other team his team. But being a freshy could also mean he'd want to stay and maybe battle it out his junior or senior year.
Reason for McMillian- Hes a junior just like Burrow. If he couldn't beat him out this fall, He'll probably not beat him next year, So he'd likely transfer out to a team that'll guarantee him a starting spot.

If Joe qb's LSU over Alabama, will we get Hugh Freeze'd by the mendacious Crimson Dwarf?
Posted on 6/29/18 at 5:23 pm to dgnx6
He probably doesn't want to kill the other guys' confidence and make them wanna transfer

McMillan is gone after he graduates this summer. He'd have a legit chance to start at a Southeastern or SMU. I'm just using them as examples because I have no clue what those 2 schools QB situations look like.

Pretty sad that LSU has to take a transfer at QB to have a quality starter. 3 other QBs and they look completely lost.

Well one is a career backup.
The other is coming off acl issues.
The last is a stick man.
We should have seen these issues coming.

So McMillian, Narcisse, And Brennan aren't good QBs? An extremely talented QB decided to transfer, So why wouldn't LSU jump all over that? Just because Burrow may be better doesnt mean our other QBs are bad.. That's just ignorant. What's really a shame is seeing a guy with an LSU logo by his name commenting dumb shite and bashing our program.

No. I’ll try once more. What he is saying is IF you are a betting man the odds on Joe being QB Are very good. Kinda like LSU being a favorite over a team like Troy.
Simply Put Burrow is a BIG Favorite and it would be upset BIG Troy like upset if he wasn’t QB.
