There is no other explanation for the disrespect of that seed. It is lower than would be justified by any objective metric. Just speaks to the pure corruption of the NCAA.

We beat Tennessee the only time we played them.

In it's last four games, LSU beat two tournament teams (including a 3 seed), beat one of the first teams out and lost to a #2 seed by 1 point and managed to get an 8 seed coming from a conference where they finished 3rd with six teams making the tourney. Hmmm.
