I'll never understand how Shores can't find the putout pitch. Guy throws 100 with 2 feet of run and he's yet to be a big strikeout guy at LSU. Induces a ton of ground balls but not too many swing and misses.

Milam has to pump that and throw it home. Milam’s job is to really just run the runner back to first with his eyes on the guy on third. If he doesn’t break home after the fake throw then no harm done.

Exactly. Little league play. Wasted more pitches.

what did we do there

Seems like a bad decision on Jones.

The easier out was the guy between 1st and 2nd, not the guy likely to make it home.

But would that have still counted as a score if the runner crossed home but the 2nd baserunner was thrown out?

Also Jones could have squeezed, instead of being nailed to the bag

Yes, if he crossed the plate before the runner at first was tagged out.

The run counts only if the runner crosses home before the out is recorded.

He's also yet to really pitch for LSU.

I mean it's not unfair criticism. He did the same thing as a freshman, then did the same thing in the fall and spring. It's the only reason he wasn't drafted in the top half of the first round out of high school, and it's the reason he's pitching on Sunday instead of Friday.

If he can develop a true swing and miss pitch, he's a top 5 arm in the country.

He pitched a little bit in 2023 before blowing out his elbow. Wasn’t really a strike out guy back then.
