With all the talk this spring about the new offense and Keys absence from practice, how has the battle at Safety been playing out. Eric Monore was suppose to be next up but with Stevens and Delpit balling out that might not be the case. Who's been running with the one's and how do y'all think this race ends up?

I've heard more about Delpit than Stevens.
Harris will join mix this summer.

Don't sleep on Ed Paris.

ETA: It's been Battle and Paris with the 1s as far as I can tell. Monroe and Delpit are next up I believe. We're ridiculous at safety

It has been pretty interesting to see Delpit getting as much attention as he has gotten. While I don't see him starting game 1, I can see him maybe assuming a starting spot later.

With his injuries, I'm not sure he did much last year. This is his first chance to get some reps.

Supposedly Battle and Paris have the top spots locked up, but don't be surprised to see a foursome of Stevens, Delpit, Monroe, and Lewis get a lot of snaps.

Paris and battle will be graduating after this year. So expect to see a lot of action from Monroe, Delpit, and Stephens.

Agree. I know Les Miles isnt the coach anymore, but I find a hard time seeing Delpit or Stevens coming in as freshmen and starting right away. As good of DB's that have come through here, rarely any hve started off the bat as true freshman. Toliver did, but that might not have been for the best. Paris and Battle will start week 1.

Might be a different story by the middle of the season though.

Maybe not day 1 but both Shaq White and Jamal were starting very very early.

ETA: I think it was the same for PP7 and TM7 as well.

I think its his more natural position.. just not sure he will be the head hunter we're accustomed to seeing..

The knock on Paris has always been not tough enough around the line of scrimmage. Good cover guy not a big tackler.

After we got beat down by Auburn, Adams and beckwith played more and the defense was way better for it.

Todd Harris probably plays second/third Nickel. Have to get his playmaking skills on the field, but can't take out Delpit, Jacoby, or the starters.

Having Jamal really helped hide our inconsistencies at LB..I'm kinda nervous about Paris being that line of scrimmage guy this season.
