Problem with Banner Ford, Monroe and F150 recall

So I have a 2014 F150. Noticed a while back it randomnly downshifted to first gear from third gear. Rarely. Last month I read about a recall for the exact reason. Take it in. They keep it a week. Got it back 2 weeks ago. Now it is much, much worse. Downshifting and simply stopping moving forward with motor running (once so far). Called them and they said the recall was completed and not under warranty and they don't work on old trucks. I noticed when I picked it up, it was the only one in lot of repairs that hadn't been washed and was setting apart from the others. My thinking is they never touched it. But idk. Am I wrong here or should they fix the sucker. The problem is exactly what is described in the recall. Freaking dangerous.

They parked it and did nothing. Sitting parked for two weeks probably made it worse.

I always write down the mileage before I drop off a vehicle for any kind of service. This would have been very helpful to know if they even drove it after the work was completed.

yeah, kinda hurt my feelings. has 270,000 miles on it and the only thing thats been repaired is the water pump. been a great truck. I KNEW I shouldn't have trusted them with it before I took it in, dangit.

Sounds like a bunch of bullshite to me. Not sure whether I would try to contact the manufacturer or try another dealership, though.
The statement about not working on old trucks is patently ridiculous!

Don't give anyone money that obviously doesn't want or care about having your business.
I understand this is a recall and likely no money out your pocket per se, but the dealership does get paid for that time.

I would call the dealership and ask them for a recommendation on a dealership that would work on it. Either that, or just be done with banner and find another dealership that will do it.

Go to the Ford recalls/owner support website, enter your VIN, and see if this repair is listed in your vehicles recall repair history.

You can also check any manufacturer by VIN through this website: https://www.checktoprotect.org/

I think FORD would have a big problem with a policy like this. Keep in mind most dealers live in an adversarial relationship with corporate. I'd call somewhere up the chain of command and see if top-down pressure gets applied. You want to sell Fords? You are going to service them.

My neighbor, who is wealthy and retired and bored, was convinced the oil change place near our house wasn't doing the work he paid for.
He wrote his name on his oil filter and put it back in the car then got an oil change. Sure enough, same oil filter was still on it after paying to have it replaced
He, as old retired people do, blew up on facebook and the place fired their manager and made a publicly apology and everything. Our whole neighborhood goes to this place, or used to, and everyone stopped.

You want to get in touch with the district manager or regional service manager for Ford warranty/service.

Wouldn't dealership be able to just lie about it and submit that they did the work?
Yes, but there's also the chance that a new guy took the vehicle in and the service manager said "let it sit. we don't work on them that old."

This probably happens more than folks realize, especially if you drive a car with a not so common filter that they don't regularly stock. These quick change places aren't going to leave your vehicle on the rack while someone goes out to find one at autozone.

File a complaint with the local Better Business Bureau. Probably won't do much good but your complaint will be 'on file' with the BBB.
Call Fords customer service line and complain.
Call the owner and complain. Skip the service manager, general manager...go straight to the owner.
Get on Google via their website and give 'em a review.
Usually, you will get a survey from the dealer. Manufacturers and dealers are super sensitive about getting bad surveys.
Sadly, all the Ford dealers in NELA are pathetic.
