We played dumb and not having a point guard has finally done us in.

Why on earth we play Gilbert is beyond me

If we were putting Betts in pick and roll action I would understand attacking her, but just driving the ball straight in the paint at her like she’s a scrub that will forget how to block shots was head scratching

Calling Kim. Calling Kim Mulkey.

Coach Mulkey, please come to the Rant and explain to the Peanut Gallery why you allow Gilbert to be a ball hog.........

Inside shooting did not cost us the game nor did Gilbert, though she was 0-7.

LSU was better in the Paint than they were but the perimeter shooting was awful for LSU and really good for UCLA.

Gilbert missed 7 shots, 0-7

Mykala Williams missed 9 shots, 4-13

Aneesah Morrow missed 12 shots, 7-19

Flau'Jae Johnson missed 7 shots,10-17

This was a team loss not because of them going inside but because of them not hitting perimeter shots and not executing (including Gilbert but not solely her).

A little better defense on their 3 shooters might have turned this game around but even when challenged it seemed like the threes were good.

LSU lost that game with poor shooting% period. They early turnovers didn’t help either.

i dont think anyone really expected lsu to win that game LAST YEAR against ucla, but you know why they did?? bc ucla took OVER 100 shots!! a third of which were 3s! MISSED THREES! in fact, of the 100 shots only 7/32 were made threes. (a) had they converted more of those, they would have won; and (b) had they not even taken a 3 and instead made a few 2s. they would have won. btw, lsu beat ucla shooting 28/62---they literally shot the ball FORTY less times and still won the game!

this year. different story. the only thing that really beat lsu were those 3s! ucla was able to hit more of those than last year. that's it, nothing else!! the turnovers were the same, the fouls were the same (dont count garbage fouls at the end) and even rebounding was just about even (lsu had only 5 more). even coach starkey said some of those 3s were from defensive breakdowns! whoever was guarding jones and gardiner were told DO NOT LEAVE YOUR MAN! and they were left. and that was the difference.
