Not all ground balls are equal. Hanley Ramirez is fielding a backhand ball. Maybe he didn't have time to get in front. Looking at Bregman's photo, that ball seems to be hit pretty darn close to the shortstop's postion (2nd base is not visible in the photo), so to me it seems that Bregman would have had time to square up on the ball. Now, perhaps it was just a piss-rod off the bat and was about to one-skip into Bregman, and in that case perhaps Bregman was not as much of a team player as GT, and he stayed on the side.
