Pretty much nails it. Also mentions the childish act of storming off the field. Not a good look for a supposed "leader" of your team.

The kid probably had aspirations of someday playing in the NFL.Those hopes were dashed I'm sure, he's a kid, give him a break, that's a lot to process at his age.

Very informative OP, thanks. Let me help you.

quote:

HARRIS STORMS OFF: LSU quarterback Brandon Harris did not appear to be a happy man as the game ended Saturday following his benching in the second quarter. He rushed off the field before any of his teammates, skipped the traditional singing of the alma mater with Coach Miles and nearly beat the game officials to the locker room.

“I would expect a competition that both guys would understand, and that we would go forward from there,” Miles said.

Etling said he spoke to Harris throughout the game after replacing him. “He was very supportive of me during the game,” he said. “He is a great teammate and really wants to win, too.”

It is very nice to hear the quarterback talk about identifying defenses.

Get off his damn back. 90% of the Rant would've acted worse than he did. The ironic thing is that most of you would be calling him an "outstanding young man" or "an incredible leader" if he played well. It's sad you allow a guy's play to dictate how you judge his overall character like some dumbass. He was benched for possibly a better option. Case closed.

James Wright barely caught a ball at LSU and got drafted. If you have the talent, you can get to the league.

Nah dude. Not at all. If you want to be an SEC QB, you have to understand people will be watching and commenting. Time to grow a pair.

BH will be ok. As soon as Etling starts stinking up the joint like BH did the rant will start questioning his character too.

Terribly selfish of him.

The one thing that is consistent about Harris is his immaturity.
Many reports have him as a very nice, bright young man, but his ability to learn, both as a QB and as a young person has not been impressive.
I wish him the best, but as an LSU fan, I want the team to win. Harris does not seem to have much to offer in this regard, and Etling, with fewer data points, does.
I hope to see a lot more Etling than Harris next week .
And I hope neither is booed for performance, no matter what.

Thanks for clearing that up, Tim Tebow.

You also have to understand that what you post on the Internet will receive backlash. If it's hypocritical or dumb, people are going to call you out on it.

Harris could have gone to dozens of other schools and most likely succeeded under a competent head coach. He chose to come to LSU and bleeds purple and gold, yet many on here insist on shitting on him. frick those people.

Maybe he just wanted to get out of there after getting yanked. Among everything else he's feeling, he's probably embarrassed at his performance. Sitting a few games might be the best thing for the young man.

You may be right, it may be the best thing for him, but I don't think a lot of people realize what can happen to a kid like that.

He was probably admired most of his life for his football talent, and may have lost his identity in that. If someone asked him who he was, he might answer "Brandon Harris, starting QB for LSU" and actually invest all of his self worth in that identity.

Then maybe through no fault but his own, he becomes disillusioned when he loses that position.

It can be devastating, to a point that he no longer feels like he's worth anything anymore.

Not saying that happened, or will happen to him, but it could easily, give him a break, thanks.

Harris was just frustrated with himself that's why he "stormed" off of the field. I remember when Peyton Manning did the same thing when the Saints beat the Colts in the Super Bowl.

I hope Harris realizes he can actually learn by watching from the sidelines instead of pouting on the bench. His career isn't over unless he chooses to do the latter.
