Former Stadium resident here too. It sure didn't look that good in my days! The "Rock" wasn't exactly the modem of comfort and decor that a lot would like to believe it was. In many ways, it made the barracks at Ft Polk look posh! But I still enjoy the look on the faces of young LSU fans when they find out I used to live in the stadium. It generally takes a while to get their jaws back in place with the rest of their face.
Great photos! Thanks for posting them up here.

In the second pic, is that copper strip a lightning conductor?
Pretty sure it's an expansion joint.

not sure of the precise details, but the north end plaza and west side plaza are definitely in the works...actually that Phase has already started on the West and North....champions circle, new fences/gates surrounding stadium etc...this refinishing in the OP is part of the north end stuff...windows were first, now refinishing, I'm sure next will be the ground level plaza stuff

I walked by there today and talked to the guy in charge of the project for about fifteen minutes. He said that they will finish the north end-zone in 35 to 40 days, which would be 35 days ahead of schedule. He said that if they can get done in that amount of time, it would allow them to go ahead and start on the east side of the stadium under the upper deck, replacing the windows along with it. I asked him about refurbishing the inside of the dorms and he felt like that was a long-term goal of LSU after they are completely done with everything on the outside. He also said that they are going to refurbish the amphitheater on campus when they get a chance. It got me really pumped talking to him and hearing all the construction plans that are being put into place right now.

Anyone know if this:
...is still part of the project?
Yes, but some of it won't be done until next year. Pretty much everything except a small portion on the NE corner and the champion's walk that leads to the intersection will be done before this season.

There is also some minor repair work being done on the SEZ in the next few months. The bleacher replacement was part of that project.

Yeah I figured they wouldn't do the west side plaza and North Stadium Drive at the same time. Just wasn't sure if they still planned on doing it

Say what you will about Joe Alleva but when he came in, he said he was going to clean up Tiger Stadium and make it as iconic on the outside to match the lore of the games that have been played on the field. I say props to him for following through and doing a good job thus far.

Aside from all the renovations, which I think are great, I also really like the marketing emphasis the last couple of years really promoting Tiger Stadium as historic/haunted/ghostly/iconic/etc
If they ever did renovate the dorms, I'd be cool with it, but I also like the idea that Tiger Stadium has these vacant haunted dorms inside of it....pretty cool IMO even if they aren't being used.

Wow, I didn't realize just how bad it looked. Major upgrade!! The rennovations were needed desperately.

And virtually all due to private dollars given by generous people (many of whom post on this board). Thanks to all who gave more than just the lip service…and gave their money! To TAF, who some think is evil, but I am thankful for…

the new windows in and of themself make the North End look 1000% better....now with the refinishing it really looks unbelievable.
it really does look good. Can't wait til all this is done and football season starts.
