There is PLENTY of sun now and will be with this addition to grow and maintain a solid healthy sod. How many times have you seen sod do very well in dappled shade from tall trees overhead? And in the case of T.S. there is no overhead shade. I would guess that the field gets at least 6-8 hours of direct sun every single day. That is PLENTY. Don't let anyone try to convince you that the reason our turf has ever looked less than great is because of the shade that is created by the upper decks.
:edit: I'm a Landscape Architect btw so I'm not just pontificating.

Personally, given our talent/speed, I would just prefer an artificial surface. On top of that, an artificial surface simply looks better IMO...always bright/vibrant, don't have to worry about weather/rain screwing it up. Whether our field looks good right now or not, everyone knows it hasn't always looked good ... it's definitely had some rough patches and that can be avoided permanently with an artifical surface.
That said, I'm fine with grass, but I just don't get into the whole "football is meant to be played on natural grass" stance.

I've played on artificial turf...I hated it. It gets extremely hot in the sun to the point that your toes burn. It makes for an easy way to get athletes foot. It also has a tar smell to it because of the rubber tires that are used as the surface underneath-which also get stuck in your cleats.
Yes, it does look more clean and consistent but it's not worth the problems that come with it.

Yeah, artificial turf would get VERY hot for day games. A lot of people don't get that.

It may be different in the Superdome or other dome, but in 110 degrees - it's bad...

With all the upgrades in the last decade how hard was it to replace those windows?

The outside looks great. Too bad the concourses, concession stands, and bathrooms all still look like shite....(minus both uppers of course)

Yeah, after all this exterior cleansing, they need to overhaul the interior. At least finish it off a bit.

I'm sure that is the plan.
Takes time, I wouldn't be surprised if they do that next offseason. Who knows though with the expansion slated to start in the Fall.

TAF surely has enough money. I'd love to see that happen next off season.
