change the rule from sitting out one play to sitting out the series. If that doesn’t work make the “injured” player sit out the quarter.

And let’s not kid ourselves. LSU has done it as well.

Every team does that shite dude. LSU was doing it against Texas. I hate when people try to act like their team doesn’t do that. Until they make a rule for it teams will do it.
And there are only a few cases of people outright faking an injury. Most times they legitimately do have something minor and 20 years ago could have hobbled off the field and the sub would have had time to run on before the next snap. Now they just go down, or stay down, so there isn’t a clusterfrick trying to get them off the field and the replacement on while the offense is lining up for the snap.

Simple. Any player who requires assistance of medical personnel is out for that series and the next 2.

A game with flop extentions and CBS ads will be extremely long game. I plan on pausing my DVR for 45 minutes to skip through the BS.

If you wanted to fix it, the rule would be easy to do. If you are injured and can't make it to the sideline, you must sit out for the time remaining in the quarter if a timeout isn't used. Problem solved forever and the benefits outweigh the issues. Sorry for the fringe cramps or loss of breath issues. Use a timeout or you have to sit.

Here's the reasoning if you are truly hurt to the point you can't get off the field, you probably shouldn't return anyway. If you are hurt relatively minorly, you should be able to limp off as was done for 60 years of football prior to this new strategy.

You can't limit it to a series IMO because that is hard to administer. What if there is a fumble then another fumble on a play. New series? How do the officials keep track of who can't return on a series. Quarters provide a hard break that everyone should be able to determine with ease.

Quite frankly, LSU SHOULD be the team faking injuries in this game, not Ole Miss.

Ole Miss wants to play at a fast tempo without substituting. That keeps the defense from being able to substitute. For those who were paying attention, that's a big reason LSU's offense was so successful in 2019. They could go fast and run or pass without having to change personnel. The biggest key in that was CEH who was able to motion out an play WR or simply stay in the backfield and run the ball.

Ed already talked about it this week that LSU isn't going to be able to substitute much when the ball is spotted on the hash opposite LSU's sideline. OM can dictate play by forcing LSU to come out on the first play of a drive with one personnel group and not allowing LSU to sub because OM is going fast without substituting.

What you saw in the Tennessee/OM game was the result of BOTH teams wanting to run plays at an extremely fast tempo. That's why BOTH teams flopped excessively. They wanted to substitute.

The way you fix the issue is making it a rule that (1) if a player goes to the ground causing play to be stopped AFTER the teams have substituted on that play, then no other substitutions can occur on that play except a substitution for the injured player, AND (2) if an injured player necessitates a stoppage of play (i.e. he can't get to the sideline without stopping play) then that player must sit out the next 5 plays.

That way you don't force the officials to have to make a call as to who is really hurt and who isn't. But you also discourage flopping because you know that player will be lost for a large chunk of the drive if he does. Presumably, if a guy is hurt bad enough to warrant a stoppage of play then it is in HIS best interest to sit out more than a play or two.

I think that any defensive player that is injured (fake or real) that requires the clock to stop and action delayed should not be allowed to participate again until the opponent’s next offensive possession.

60 years ago the ball wasn’t being snapped while they were trying to limp off.

And to add on to this, If a player is ejected from a game for a helmet to helmet hit in the name of Safety, why isnt the player taking the hit removed from the game until they pass a Concussion Test?

Not whole quarter just rest of series and sub cannot come off the field in next series, that way faker misses 2 series and suber plays 2 series

I loved the FL QB this past weekend. He hurt his pinky FINGER. I guess it hurt so bad it made his knees buckle and he crumpled down. I riley dont get how his pinky affected his walking capability.

No kidding. Love it when a player injured his hand, runs toward the sideline, just to drop like a sack of potatoes 5 yards away from the sideline.

Just make a rule where any player who disrupts the flow of a game is automatically out for the remainder of the series. If someone is truly hurt, they need more than one play to recover anyways. So you also have the “making the game safer” argument too.
