With Mays, Taylor, and Smart returning what's the starting 5 going to look like? Hopefully Emmitt announces he's returning soon.

Don’t sneeze at Days! He’s going to be great. I really think he’ll break out to another level next year.

Difficult at this point since we don't know how well Cooper has progressed. Also don't know if anymore players will be added. But, as of right now, with the roster and what we know, I'd go with this:
PG:J Smart
SG:S Mays
SF:C Manning
PF:E Williams
c: T Watford

Manning is going to shock a lot of people. This guy can flat out play.

I'd be surprised if Taylor lost his starting spot.

Watford.is.not.a.center

I don’t know what on earth you people have seen of him to try and peg a circle block into a square hole. He’s not a center. He’s not Naz. He’s not even close to either of those.

Ok,.... so who do you put at center if we don't get one?

You're getting upset about what position he is naturally and we all know that... he's a 4. But when you don't have a 5, he's the logical choice, like Tiger Eyes is stating.

Seems it would have to be Watford.

LSU does not have a single center on the team. So, by logic, since he is the tallest player on the team, he gets the title. Though the terms regarding position are only offering of a place, not their actual position. We can say the starting lineup is PF, PF, SF, SG, PG or we can go with, PF, SF, SF, SG, PG or we can go with, PF, PF, SF, SF, SG. Do you understand what I'm saying. I just went with a traditional lineup rather than signifying actual player positions. But given what LSU has, that is the lineup I see them starting with, regardless what term you use to signify their actual position. That being said, Magic Johnson was not a Center, but he played the position at least once in the NBA. Rickey Blanton was not a Center, but he played the position for a season. You put the best 5 players you have on the court, positional terms are insignificant.

That's the one position I struggled with the most. So I went out on a limb, so-to-speak, with inserting Manning and removing Taylor. I just see Manning as a much better player all around that will benefit LSU more than Taylor. Manning is a much better ball handler, a better shooter and passer, and he has a lot of hop in his jump, he gets off the floor quick and high. But, LSU may have to come off the bench with either Smart or Mays, those two are really the only guards that can bring the ball down the floor. Or he may use Manning in that capacity. I'm not sure about Bishop in that capacity, I know that's what he was recruited for, just not sure if he is ready to come off the bench and give a lot of minutes yet.

OMG thank you!! I have no ideal WTF they are looking at, he's not a center or PF,I will say he will be really good player in do time.

Smart
Mays
Taylor
Watford
Williams

Watford, Willaims and Days will each play a relatively similar portion of time at the 4 and 5. The two spots will be interchangable.

We live in an age of positionless basketball. As long as Watford can rebound (which he can) he will play a forward position for us. That doesn't mean he won't get the ball on the perimeter. It doesn't mean we are going to try and get him the ball in the post every time down the court. It's simply stated as him as the C or 5 ( I prefer 5) because he will be the biggest man on the court for LSU consistently.

Bench:
Emmitt
Taylor
Bishop
A transfer
Graves

I think Taylor will struggle a lot offensively without Waters. Unless his shooting improves tremendously, I don’t see him keeping his starting spot.

That bench will give you excellent defense, intensity, and rebounding though.

I agree with everything you said. I just disagreed with you putting that classification on him. Clearly by your post above you aren't one of the people I was referring to. A ton of people think for whatever reason that Watford is similar to Naz or other true bigs. I have no idea why.

and I would also say, while LSU may have to side with no positions next season, that won't stop the opponent from throwing a 6'10" 240 lb monster out there like Gafford from Arkansas or Fernando from Maryland. When those guys are in the game, Watford won't be the guy down on the block banging with him.

That's a better way of saying it I guess.
