I subscribed as well. Before that, I can remember waiting at the USA Today Paper Holder for the Newspaper Delivery guy so I could make sure I got a copy. This was the only way to get any news about the Saints or LSU when out of state. Also, if LSU wasn't ranked there was no news.

My dad didn't care for sports outside of boxing but my oldest sister's first husband played baseball for LSU back in the '70s and I became a sports fan entirely due to his influence. TigerRag and Tigervision FTW.

The SEC previews would come out in late June or early July if I remember correctly. I would always get excited when I saw those mags hit the racks because I knew football was right around the corner.

Couldn't wait to see what J.R. Ball had to say....

I loved Tiger Rag. When I was in college in Texas, my mom would mail me a copy of TR and a check for 25 dollars (weekend food).
I guess I appreciated it more because I could only catch The football and basketball games from a radio station out of Shreveport. I had to go outside on the upper balcony of the dormitory to listen to LSU. This was 1987/1988. Lol

I didn't but I would "borrow" my neighbors and read before he got home.
My grandmother did also and I have several in my possession along with the original actual Tiger Rag.

My grandpa did and I used to snatch them up with the quickness!
Good times.

My subscription to Tiger Rag and access to the internet actually overlapped.
O.P., thanks for making me feel ancient.

Mine didn't. Out of curiosity, how much did the subscription cost?

I was at LSU in the mid-late 80s and I remember subscribing to it myself. In fact I even interviewed with Steve Myers, one of the original owners, for an Ad Sales Rep position.
I still periodically pick up a copy of the Rag..

I did. I lived out of state and it was a good way of keeping abreast of everything happening in LSU sports.

Yes I took the Tiger Rag and showed up in the Mailbox on like Tuesday and I also knew both Steve's. At the time was the best Recruiting Information.

subscribed in the early 80's while stationed in Germany. Old news by the time I got it but was really glad to get it!

I subscribed for a few years. Don't even mention sitting in the truck listening to LSU football games on the radio or raking pine straw while listening to baseball games in the front yard. ESPN was the best thing to ever. And then the internet.

In the Navy, from 82-88, I had to rely on The Sporting News and week old CNN. Then I lived in SC and NY, that's when I started subscribing to Tiger Rag and P&G. Game nights I'd have to get in my car and drive around trying to get a signal from WWL or KWKH out of Shreveport.
