Well we would have an even worse record if we played really good teams.

At least fans would have known how good this team isn’t.

And that would have benefited you in what way?

Mostly weak OOC teams on every SEC team's schedule.

Call me crazy, but I think this team was better early on. Seems like something might have happened, that maybe coincided with the start of conference play. What that would be, I don't know. But we appeared to be cruising right along.

I'm curious about how big an impact Kling was supposed to be, he was batting leadoff early. Dude honestly should be a 300 hitter, but something got in his head. Maybe he felt like he had to be Crews, and fricked his swing up trying to hit with more power than he has. And when he went in the tank, so did the whole team.

I think we got unexpectedly slapped in the face by MissSt and failed to recover while playing 4 straight series after that against elite competition that had a target on us. Florida Game2 was devastating and Arkansas put us in a tailspin, everyone questioning WTF is happening here, rightfully so.

Honestly there’s no shame in losing any of the series we’ve lost, individually by themselves. It’s just losing them all has everyone mindblown, team included probably

Game2 against Florida and Game2 against Vandy are pivotal moments of the season IMO. I’d say game2 against Florida was the defining one moment of the season unfortunately. 2 series we could have won, and we fricked around and didn’t.

It very well may be those 2 games that keep us from going 500 in the league , not even getting into the possible momentum that could have been created from those 2 wins which would have been series wins

On the negative side… horrific start to conference play. Ugly overall.

On the positive side… just start winning series, it’s really as simple as that. Schedule lightens up and even winning 2/3 against Mizzou and Auburn won’t feel like anything significant to us as fans, it makes a difference in climbing the standings and at least will give us a shot at postseason in the final 3 series.

I'm not saying fire the coach, but if that's the case, then this is on Johnson.

At some point leadership is ultimately on the coach, and if the team's collective psyche is so fragile that one road series can wreck your entire season, the coach has failed his team. This team isn't a Top 5 as per the preseason rankings, but they shouldn't be getting skull-drug in the SEC either. My prediction would have been 5 more wins so far- 1 in each of the series. We should have taken Miss State, Florida, and Vandy, and a game from Arkansas and Tennessee. That's what should have been expected, and that would have us squarely in line to host a regional (and in place to make a run the next month.
This was not an overwhelmingly tough schedule, as some try to claim- Miss State and Florida are not that good, and Vandy is certainly beatable. We just have been even worse than the competition. We seem to lack the edge we usually have, the edge that would have finished out those lost W's. Our games seem to be competitive until the 6th-7th innings, and then both pitching and batting both freeze up. I've never seen an LSU baseball team so scared in the later innings, as this one appears to be.

Correct, I’m sure some people had the unreal expectation of repeating, but you realistically can’t expect that, but what you can realistically expect is to be a middle of the pack SEC team. There is no excuse for this team being as bad as it is.

This team just seemed to play differently after they came back from Houston.
